Nada Surf
American rock band Nada Surf are Matthew Caws, Daniel Lorca and Ira Elliot. The band got together in 1993 (with a different drummer back then) and recorded a couple of songs just 3 weeks after starting the band. Daniel took some copies with him when he visited his family in Spain and returned with a contract for an album ! The Spanish label wanted to get the worldwide rights, but had no distributor for the States, so Nada Surf didn't sign. 1996 saw the release of their debut album HIGH/ LOW on Elektra anyway. The single release "Popular" became a summer-hit beside No Doubt's "Just A Girl". They finished recording their 2nd album THE PROXIMITY EFFECT in 1998 and released the album in Europe, but not in the States. They've had problems with their American record label and kept looking for a new label until finally deciding to start and run their very own label in early 2000. Now the band released their 2nd album also in the States and started touring the album - FINALLY.
