Caught In The Act
It was in Amsterdam (the Netherlands) in 1992, that our favourite boy group Caught In The Act was "established". There were four handsome guys -  Bastiaan Ragas, Benjamin Boyce, Eloy de Jong and Lee Baxter, who have became the sweethearts of the young girls, not only in Europe, but also in the other parts of the world.
Choosing the right name was a pretty difficult stuff for the guys, since the name had to be such to be remembered well and to be a special at the same time. Actually, the story of choosing the name is somehow closely related to pop-diva  Madonna. How so? Well, here is what happened... There was a photo of Madonna hugging some guy in the paper. The photo was taken by some paparazzi and it was more than noticeable that Madonna had been very unpleased with the paparazzi guy - she had been holding her hand towards the camera. The comment under the photo was: "Caught in the act..." And voila. Our guys saw this comment and thought of it as of a perfect name for the group.  So, the guys have their name for the group, now what?
This is how Bastiaan described their 'biography'... "I know Eloy and Benjamin from the times we were in the secondary school. I went to United States of America when I was 18 and after a year, when I came back, I met  both of my friends again. I learned, that they were performing (singing and dancing) with some group and hardly making enough money to live a decant life. We decided to take the destiny into our own hands and make a carrier making our own group. So Benjamin invited Lee, who he met in London, to join us and by the end of 1992 we recorded our firs single 'Gonna make you mine', which wasn't very successful. Another LP was 'Hey you' in 1993, but it was the third single - 'Take me to the limit' that brought us the success in the Netherlands . Everything changed (for the better) when we took place in a German soap opera 'Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten' ('Good times, bad times') in November of  1994. This soap was one of the most popular in Germany,  Austria and Switzerland, and it had much higher ratings than some other TV series, such as 'Beverly Hills 90210', 'Melrose Place', etc., mostly popular among the young. It was pretty obvious, that any group, that would take place in that particular series, was "doomed" to succeed. And that is what happened. It was the song 'Love is everywhere' what teenagers wanted to hear and 'Caught in the act' what they wanted to see.
The guys succeeded abroad and were making  one chart breaker after another. They became just as  popular as 'Take That' and 'East 17', and in some places even more. After their first number one song, there were more and more - 'Let this love begin', 'My arms keep missing you' and 'You know'. This were also the songs from their first album 'Caught in the act of love'. Their second album 'Forever friends' was a chart breaker also, with songs like 'Don't walk away', 'Bring back the love', 'Ain't just another story', etc. The next one in the row was 'Vibe', which was published in 1997. It was in the August of 1998, that CITA fans were faced with  terrible news. Guys decided to continue their careers on their own. Devastating news for thousands of girls all around the world. However that doesn't mean that the CITA spirit is dead. Not at all.  Seeing from several web sites dedicated to our guys, we can see that their spirit is still alive among their loyal fans.
I mustn't forget to mention the albums "6 Years of Success" and "Solo 4 CITA", published after their parting. And than again, this summer of 1999, ZYX Music has made lots of CITA fans happy, publishing the "Mega Hit Mix" with all our favourite CITA songs. After their parting, CITA fans are supporting each and every member of the group - Bastiaan and Benjamin, who started their solo careers, and also  Eloy and Lee.
