To My Little Girl For My Little Girl

You are my joy.
Your hugs envelope me in warmth,
Your kisses sweet and meaningful.
My eyes well with tears of joy
As I listen to your sweet songs.
Even in my darkest moments,
My heart fills with happiness
When I see your blue eyes sparkle.
And I hear your playful laugh.
You are my best little friend,
My favourite companion and dance partner.
You're confident and bold in the things you do,
Even in the way you move,
Swinging your golden ponytail
Back and forth as you walk.
Your pure innocence shines through,
As you seek the comfort of my approval
When you try something new.
Every day, you surprise me,
With new phrases and new words,
Some of which I wish you never learned.
My precious baby girl,
You try to be so grown up
As you hold up four little fingers
With your tiny, painted pictured nails,
And tell your audience, "I'm four".
But at bed time you're my baby again,
As I tuck you in with your blankie
And your many animal friends.
My precious baby girl,
We've always been connected.
No longer do you move inside of me,
But, you will always move me inside.
