4+15+98... I suppose a little background
is necessary. My name is Airmaus. I have a musical group called Johnny
BeGooode & Airmaus (JBA). We've been together since 1996, and in the
time from there and now, we made a few friends in listeners. One of these
friends is George Washington Syndrome. George expressed interest in assembling
a JBA newsletter, and with a little information and funding from me, began
doing so. While working on said newsletter, George approached me in January
of 1998 with the idea of a web site based on JBA. Together, we set
up the first JBA web site. From this site, I began setting up this one.
The Geocites account gave me more space for my disposal. This means more
song samples, more information, more links, and (hopefully soon) more digitized
pictures. Yippee! Now to get it all online...
A few days later... I now have all
the files on the Internet and (more or less) bug free. I may have missed
a bad link or two. If I have, feel more than free to e-mail
and bitch me out about it.
Now to news. After four issues, I have decided to temporarily discontinue
publishing of "The Englishman's Guide To Wisdom:
The JBA Newsletter." This decision came about after a vital
source of distribution for the newsletter closed business. Oh well. The
newsletter will be back eventually, perhaps exclusively through the Internet
for the time being. More on this later.
Next, other things. I have put JBA on hold temporarily to give me time
to gather up the odds & ends of recorded material. I recently received
a gift of two cassettes of material, featuring myself and good friend Yom
Kipper, recorded Halloween and other October days of 1997. The sound quality
is quite good, and the performances are frosted with plenty of noise and
sloppiness.
These shall be posted on the discography, along with the following other
recent projects:
1) The first of the "Taxidermists' Ballet" series, by Johnny
BeGooode & Airmaus.
2) Volume two of the "Taxidermists' Ballet" series, by Airmaus.
3) A recent Airmaus recording of new material.
I am compiling new digitized samples of JBA material for the web site.
Within the next seven days (4/22-29/98) I hope to have these updates completed.
Along with these features, I am juggling and negotiating reunions of
my previous groups Cigarettes Cause Cancer and Psychedelic Bisquick. CCC
will feature the original duo of myself and The Princess Magellan Mustard.
PB will feature the original duo of myself and Ta, tentatively planned
to be augmented with other musicians. The CCC venture will be based mostly
on reworking and updating our previous songs, while PB will focus on new
material. More on this later.
Johnny BeGooode & Airmaus is now listed under "The Band Register."
4+30+98...Okay, I've slacked off a bit, but I have an excuse: Computer Problems. I regret to say I'm pushing back the updates for a few days, but I am hopeful to have them complete sooner or later (How's that for a ballpark figure?) Now to news:
The previously mentioned reunions of Cigarettes Cause Cancer and Psychedelic
Bisquick have unfortunately fallen apart due to artistic differences. JBA
is still on hiatus. I'm currently attempting in vain to wrap up the "Taxidermists'
Ballet" project. It has gotten a little too big for me to handle right
now. I'll probably pick it back up when funds aren't quite so lean.
Early May 1998... With promotions
for the music, the site, and toying with new musical equipment, I have
had little spare time to update the site. George has been unable to assist
me, as well. But enough of my whining. I'm updating the site now, with
a link to the FractMus
site (My latest favorite toy. You're welcome, Gustavo), Discography
updates, (No, not all of what I promised, but it's a start), and more
Sound clips (with a ZIP containing
all WAVS). I'm working on adding a few downloadable writings. These writings
will include the first few issues of The Englishman's
Guide To Wisdom, song lyrics, and rants and fictions from myself
and Johnny.
Late May 1998...
Going offline for a few days. Oh boy.
Mid-to-Late June 1998... Geocities
has endowed us lowly types with more web site space. This will mean more
sounds, pics, and goodies. Also, this will make us all suffer with the
industrial vomit propaganda logo you see in the lower right hand corner
of the screen. Oh well. Just in case you forgot, (or failed to look at
the address as you typed it) YOU ARE ON A GEOCITIES SITE.
What else is going on? The remixes are continuing.
I'm settling in with new studio arrangements, continuing to grind out happy
tunes for folks everywhere to whistle and hum whilst riding in elevators.
MIDI has fascinated me- the synths on my sound card sound relatively decent,
and I've been toying writing orchestra pieces. The idea of the whole workmanlike
task of it all amuses me, as well; just a lonely fool slaving over a glowing
screen, the only sympathetic ear to his grand master plan. As my friend
Yom Kipper says, "Enjoy the joys of joy."
