Heather Nova '98
American singer/ songwriter HEATHER FRITH, known as HEATHER NOVA, moved to LONDON
in late 1989 in order to get better musical opportunities there. She released a first
4-track-EP on BIG CAT RECORDS, which was distributed by ROUGH TRADE. Because of the
distributors demise only a week later the EP was only out for a short time. In 1993
Heather released her first album called "Glow Stars" on BUTTERFLY, but still had no
big success. Later that year she put out a live album entitled "Blow" on BIG CAT RECORDS
, distributed by COLUMBIA RECORDS this time. 1994 saw the release of "Oyster", the first
real studio album after "Glow Stars" was recorded at her home on an 8-track-recorder. It
featured the singles "Walk This World", "Maybe An Angel" and "Truth & Bone" and finally
got Heather some attention. In 1998 and after a contribution to the CROW II -
CITY OF ANGELS soundtrack, which also features HOLE's hit single "Golddust Woman", Heather
released her 3rd studio album "Siren" in early June with the hit-singles "London Rain" and
"Heart & Shoulder". Most recently she contributed the title song to a German movie called
"Gloomy Sunday". The song by the same name is a cover version of an old song covered by
