I really love
them! They sing wonderful music. And if you dont like them..i dont
really care. cuz i have my own opinions about them, and i dont want
yours. i've gotten criticism for liking radiohead a lot. people tell
me that their music is depressing, suicidal. whatever. in the
movieclueless, it was referred to as "complaint rock." i value their
music and if anything it makes me happy. But here is some information
about them! please read :
1960
23rd May 1967:
drummer phil selway born in Hemingford Grey,
Cambridgeshire.
15th April
1968: Guitarist/backing singer ed o'brian born in Oxford.
7th
October1968: singer/guitarist thom yorke born in Wellingborough,
Northhamptonshire.
26th June
1969: Bassist collin greenwood born in Oxford.
1970
5th November
1971: Guitarist/keyboard player jonny greenwood born in
Oxford
1980
1980-89:
Yorke, selway, o'brian and colin greenwood form a band, subsequently
joined by jonny greenwood. Calling themselves On A Friday, it will
endure for most
of the 1980s
schooldays and into their college years.
1990
1991: Renamed
Radiohead, they cut well-recieved tape, 'Manic Hedgehog' and in
september sign to EMI's Parlophone subsidiary.
1992 May: EMI
release debut single, 'Drill' to positive responses in u.k
press.
September:
Second single, the infamous hymn to self-loathing, 'Creep' is
released.
1993 13th
February: A third single, 'Anyone can play guitar' reaches number 32
in u.k chart.
6th March:
Debut album, 'Pablo Honey' is released. It reaches Number 25 in u.k
charts and will eventually go gold.
22nd May: 'Pop
is dead' single peaks at number 42.
29th May:
Bolstered by live dates and heavy MTV airtime, the dabut album
distributed by Capitol goes straight into the u.s chart at number
184.
7th August:
'Pablo Honey' reaches number 32 in u.s and goes on to sell two
million around the world.
25th August:
Radiohead pull out of annual Readin festival due to yorke's servere
throat ailment.
4th September:
'Creep' single hits number 34 position in hot 100 as a result of
heavey play on u.s college radio.
18th
September: As a result of it's hit status in such places as Isreal
and usa, Parlophone reissues 'Creep' in u.k where it leaps to number
7.
1994
January: Band
hole up in converted fruit farm in Oxfordshire countryside to
rehearse songs for the new album.
February:
Begin recording new LP with veteran producer john leckie at RAK
studios. Morale sinks as sessions are tough and
unrewarding.
27th May: Show
at London's Astoria is filmed for later release as video Astoria
27.5.94.
26th June:
Radiohead play closing day af Glastonbury festival.
27th August:
Band make up for missing previous yeat and play emotional set at
Reading Festival.
8th October:
'My iron lung' single charts at number 24 in the u.k.
November: Work
completed on second album at Abbey Road.
1995
February: Band
starts tour of Britain including homecoming shaow at Oxford Appolo
with the Candyskins and Supergrass.
11th March:
'High and dry' single released, reaching number 17 in the
u.k.
25th March:
'The Bends' album released, hitting number 6 in Britain.
3rd June:
'Fake plastic trees' single released, peaking at number 20 in the
u.k.
24th June: New
album begins its ascent of u.s chart.
29-30 July:
Radiohead join REM tour and play two dates at Milto Keynes Bowl with
Blur and the Cranberries.
August: Dates
across Europe with REM ending up in Tel Aviv on 8th August, where
'Creep' first became a popular hit two years before.
2nd September:
'Just' single released, making number 19 in u.k.
8th September:
American leg of REM tour begins a Miami Arena , with total gate
receipts of $487,477.
September: Go
Discs! release 'Help!' album, profits from which will aid Bosnian
charity War Child. Radiohead contribute 'Lucky'.
November: Band
back Stateside supporting Soul Asylum. In UK EP taken from 'Help!'
falters at number 51.
1996
19th February:
With fellow co-prducer Brian Eno, thom yorke receives Freddie Murcury
Award at annual Brit awards for 'Help!'
February:
Radiohead announce that they will support Rock The Vote, the national
campaign to encourage young adults to vote the next General
Election.
13th July:
Band back on form at Glasgow's T in The Park.
August: Band
begins 13-date u.s tour with Alanis Morrisette. Spend remainder of
year cutting third album and have two songs featured in the motion
picture
Romeo and
Juliet.
1997
May 22: The
band premier OK COMPUTER in barcelona, spain.
May 26:
Paranoid Android, the first single, is released in the UK.
June 7:
Radiohead perform at the Tibetan Freedom Concert in Randall's Island,
NY.
June 16: OK
COMPUTER is released in the UK.
June 17: OK
COMPUTER is released in Canada.
June 22:
Radiohead perform in Dublin with Massive Attack.
July 1: OK
COMPUTER is released in the US
July 5-6:
Tourhout/werchter festival.
July 25:
Radiohead perform Electioneering on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
This also marks the beginning of the US tour.
July 28-29:
Thom and DJ Shadow record a song "rabbit in your headlights" for
James Lavelle's U.N.K.L.E. project in San Francisco.
August 12:
Karma Police is released in the UK
August 29:
Radiohead perform Karma Police on the Late Show with David Letterman.
this ends the US tour. December ??: French release of
Lucky
December 19:
Radiohead performs a concert at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC for
MTV's Live at the 10 Spot.
1998
January:
