Technology constantly evolve. Music seems to follow the path of science. In a lifetime, we have the chance to listen to the different music of the different era we live in. Once in while, we kinda fall in love with certain style, sound and idea of one of those era. Trans Am are that kind of exception. Unlike those who constantly feel the need to have only the latest in technology, Trans Am are sort of "trap" in the old era of analogue synths, vocoder, old computer and rock music. Forget the notion of digital. Enter in a new era in the old world of Trans Am.
TRANS AM (1995)
ORDER CD
Even tough this is a really short album (~30min), I strongly suggest to listen to it at least one time. This will give you a very good idea of what this band's all about. Expect some very groovy tune, odd rhythms, old analogue keyboards, all presented in a very convenient manner.

SURRENDER TO THE NIGHT (1997)
ORDER CD
On the CD case, there is a little sticker that warns you that "all distortions in this album are intentional, there is nothing wrong with your CD". You'll probably guess at first that Trill Jockey wanted to attract people with this, but after hearing the album, you'll totally understand why they've put it there (listen to the last half of Rough Justice to see what I mean). Putting those moments aside, the rest of the album is more electronically/progressively oriented. Good album, even tough there's a few songs in it that can be a bit aggressive to those who aren't initiated to this kind of stuff.

THE SURVEILLANCE (1998)
ORDER CD
In this release, Trans Am explore the cold world of high-tech surveillance. Titles like Armed Response, Access Control, Home Security and Extreme Measures evoke the atmosphere of industrial espionage. Some noises sound like if they were coming out of a early Atari console game: cold, minimal and sometimes unpleasant.

FUTUREWORLD (1999)
ORDER CD
People state that Trans Am saw the future before recording this album. A future of analogue synths, robotic voice and computer drums, that is. A future that belongs more to Tron rather than The Matrix. Never an album sounded like Trans Am that much before. With future world, the difference between what's new and what's old is lost between our ears. Highly recommended
