The Atlanta Experience

My family and I headed out for Atlanta around 7 am on the 4th of july. We arrived in Charlotte around 9:30 am to pick up Shannon and then we were on our way! It took us a little over 4hrs from there to reach Atlanta, listening to Hanson all the way, of course. The official Lakewood ampitheatre hotel is right behind the airport. It was kewl watching the planes take off and landing. Its amazing you couldn't really hear the planes inside the hotel. After a while we finally met up with lisatoo. We were standing out on the floor balcony looking down. Some girls came up to us and asked "are you here to see Hanson?" We were like "yes!". They asked us our ages and they were like, "kewl you like Hanson! are you guys like with the adults support Hanson group?" It was so cute, they asked us who are favorite Hanson was, Shannon, Lisa and I sort of giggled. Some girl pointed to me and said.."Zac is your favorite isnt he?" =D We ran into alot of fans running around the hotel and hanging in the lobby. You could feel the excitement. Bummer..we had to wait one more day for the concert. I will skip over the 4th of July festivities..it wasn't much, and thats not what I came to Atlanta for anyway, tehehe. That night alot of fans where hanging in the Lobby. We met the girl who is responsible for the mmmbutt website :) I also got to meet Kelsey, I gave her a hug. Some ppl had some great pics of Hanson from different shows and some kewl scrapbooks. Shannon and I enjoyed looking at them. It was in the early hours in the a.m. when we headed on back to our rooms. It was so sweet there were girls camping out downstairs in hopes that Hanson were going to be staying there. Awwwww... come to find out later the guys were staying at the Hotel across the way from us that night. OH well. Sunday morning, the day of the show! Well, you can imagine the excitement around the place. We found out that they opened the parking lots to the amp. at 2 pm. Some ppl went in the early hours in the morning, so I dont know what they did before they opened the gates. Dawn arrived at the hotel that morning. We were all figuring out what time we wanted to head on over. Lisa, dawn and shannon headed on over to be there when the parking area opened at 2pm. My kids were hungry so before we went to the ampitheatre we went to eat, and fill up on liquids. We ran into a family that had just left Planet Hollywood. Hanson had given a press conference there just about a half hour before. They waited outside for 4hrs to get in, but they did get in to here it. I should have known thats where Hanson was going to do their press conference. My family headed on over to the amp around 3pm. It was so unbelievably HOT! We met up with Shannon, Lisa and Dawn, who were already drained from the heat. They got to see the tour buses pull in and most of the soundcheck, I missed it..boo-hoo. But while i was purchasing concert stuff and waiting to get in, surprise..I heard Zac singing the intro to "Money", they sang a little, then I heard Ike singing a little something. It was awesome and scarey at the same time watching the Hansonmania right in front of me. All these girls rushing the gate and screaming, and they were screaming at anything! They finally brought out refreshments to purchase (water and coke) I dont know why they waited so long. Some ppl looked so dehydrated by that time. We all went over and found a seat under the trees in the grass. We sat around and chatted, while i braided ashley's hair in zac-style. While we sat there, There was this remarkable tay look-alike walking around. Needless to say, he was getting lots of looks and attention..tehe. Around that time a poor girl fainted from heat exhaustion. I got paranoid when all the ppl started rushing the gate, right before they opened them at 5:30. I kept my kids at an arm distance. We had reserved seats so there was no need to be in that crowd. They finally let open the gates. Some ppls purses and bags they checked, others they didnt. My husband had a camera in each pocket, they never noticed, phew!

Finally getting to go to our seats... I found my families seats then headed on down with Shannon to our seats. When we got there I almost died. We were right on the front row , Tay's side. I kept telling Shannon "I love you man!" lol We saw Jarrod Gollihaire, he walked right in front of us. He was helping with collecting Hanson gifts from fans. awwww sweet. There were so many wonderful gifts ppl had made for hanson. Some were wrapped in elaborate boxes. There were two big blow-up aliens. You could feel the love!

You can just imagine the screaming going on. Walker walked by on the stage for a few seconds, he waved to the crowd. I think some ppl still dont know who he is. There was a moment of hysteria that frightened me. Someone had seen Hanson behind the gate outside of the amp throwing water balloons, well it spread like wildfire. Imagine thousands of girls running to a small entryway, well, the security guards panicked and took off. It took a few minutes to get everyone settled down and away from the door. Phew, no one was hurt. That really scared me.

Admiral twin finally came on around 7:10 pm. I liked their music, it was upbeat, my husband liked it too. I cheered and clapped for them big time. Of course when they mentioned they were from Tulsa, the crowd cheered even more. Their set was very short. When they left the stage and took up the black curtain, the crowd was starting to go a little batty. Every little movement or the wind blowing the curtain brought on massive screams. I was getting a little giddy at this point =) All some girl had to do was point at the stage and girls would run into the isles and the screaming would start. I thought it was mean, but one of the security guards pointed at the stage and started a screaming fest and he giggled. Tssk Tssk!

Walker and Ashely appeared. They were both wearing black coveralls and sandals. Ashley walked right in front of us first. Ashley has definitely cut off all his hair and he isnt as stocky as he appears in that pic i saw of him. He headed on over to Ike's side of the stage. Walker walked right in front of us. The girl beside me yelled "Walker" he looked at her and she pointed to herself and said "I'm you future daughter in law!" "I'm tay's future wife" he smile and nodded..what a sweetie. He then held up his camcorder and began to film the crowd. He was smiling and waving at the crowd the whole time..what a proud papa!

They put up the grey curtain. It was so weird because the curtain didn't cover where we were so we saw them clearly when they came out. The backup musicians came out and then you heard the opening chords of Give me some Lov'in aaaaahhhh! When Ike, Tay and Zac ran out, it was almost unreal. There they were right in front of me. Then the curtain dropped. The screaming was so loud! They sang perfectly and the music was awesome. The base drum echoed in my chest and Ike's guitar sounded awesome. We were all hopping up and down and singing every word. Tay was wearing a white shirt with green designs on them it was a retro-type shirt with a big collar. His white tee underneath. Snug but not too snug black velour pants and his docs he wore on 10spot. He looked awesome, I can't believe how beautiful he is in person, and only feet away...yikes. Zac was wearing red short sleeve shirt and baggy blue pants and im not sure what type of shoes. Ike was wearing kewl leather pants and I cant remember what type of shirt. The guys looked great!

After "Gimme some lov'in" went off. They said Hi to everyone. It was cute after almost every song, Zac would do this "beep!" sound. They went into "Thinking of you" next. Then "Where's the love" Man, Tay was jumping the hole time. I think after the second song he took off his overshirt, I think you know what kind of reaction that got..ahem!

I'm not sure the order of songs, but im sure everyone is familiar with them now. They sang "River" and "Speechless". "Weird" "Ever lonely" "Sometimes" <---- the way they sing that song live Rocks!! Im probably missing a song. After that they left the stage for a few minutes while the crew set up the more intimate accoustic setting of the garage set-up. They came back out. Zac said "wow, its hot!" Tay talked about when they visited the Motown museum in Detroit and about adding "Money" to the tour, since it was the first motown song to be released. He said "money is what you want, but not always what you need" awwwwww. Let me just say their rendition of "Money" is awesome! I was blown away. "Some of the best things in life are free", when Zac started singing that, alot of ppl didnt know it was him. They totally rocked on that song. "Stories" was awesome, you just cant imagine the harmonies..aaaaahhhh! Soldier was sooooo sweet. When Tay started singing "with you in your dreams" I'm so glad the crowd calmed down a bit, so I could hear it. Wow, it was so good. Tay and Zac left. Now it was time for Ike to sing "More than anything", it was so wonderful. I tried to get a good pic of that, Walker crouched down on the stage right in front of me to film it, so alot of Ike was hidden. He was great and his piano playing is wonderful. When he was done he turned off the little light and left the stage.

A few minutes later the guys came running on stage with a 3-man sling shot and a trashcan full of waterballoons. The guys were smiling from ear to ear. I think i got a good pic of this. Tay and Ike held both sides of the sling shot while Zac used all his body weight and placed a balloon on the shooter. It kept falling off before they could shoot it, everyone was laughing. They did get one to shoot off. But mostly Ike, Tay and Zac just threw them into the audience..what fun! They went back to their instruments and I forget which order, but they sang " A minute without you" "I will come to you" and "Good lov'in". They went into their jammin session and introduced the back-up musicians, I was ready for Tay to take over the drums. After they introduced the base player, Ike headed on over to Tay and took over the keyboards. Tay runs over to Zac , points at his head, pushes him off and takes over. Wow..Tay can play those drums!!! Zac preceded to run over to our side and to our surprise , down the stairs. He was only an arms length from us, but he was protected by the metal barrier, so he was safe! He stopped right in front of us! Girls from nowhere jumped in front of me and Shannon. Shannon did get her hands on them, but another girl jerked them away..boo-hoo. He ran all the way to the other side and climbed back up the stairs. He then picked up the supersoaker and was running along the front of the stage and spraying everyone, that felt so good! We were so hot. I think after that they sang "Mmmbop" I know I am forgetting songs and forgetting when and in what order they sang them..so please forgive me!!! tehe. After that they left the stage and a little bit later you heard Zac say "you want us back"...lots of screaming from the fans..and then he said "are you sure?" more screaming. Then they came back. They threw more water balloons into the audience. And Tay came to our side with a water bottle and it hit us directly..felt good! They ran to their instruments and Tay said "If you want us to stay you have to scream!"..."do you want us to stay?" that caused an extremely loud scream! Zac now had is kewl lighted drumsticks, and he was pretending he was an air-traffic control waving them forwards and backwards saying something about the planes landing =) They sang "Man from milwaukee" "Look at you", and the last song was "Summertime blues". Ike came over to Tays keyboards and played and sang with him. Tay took the mike near the end and ran over to the right side of the stage during the chorus and held the microphone out to the crowd for them to sing the part "aint no cure for the summertime blues" he did that a few times on each side and in the middle. When they finished the song. Tay went over the the right side and leaned down as far as he could to touch hands. He then came to our side and did the same thing. There was a 2 ft gap between the stage and the barrier, so he really had to lean into us to touch anyone. I tried to get my arm in there, he was only about a foot from us. Those girls are rough, totally knocked me out of the way. I will just say now, that Tay is even more beautiful in person and those eyes...I'm not sure what Ike and Zac were doing at the time. Some poor girl after touching tay's hand said she was gonna throw-up, I think she was overly excited! They then met in the middle of the stage and sang that sweet accapella of "Weird". I loved it =) They held hands and bowed quickly twice then thanked us, and left. Boo-hoo...in an mmmbop it was over! I was happy and sad at the same time. What fun it was!

Words to the wise, if you are going to a show early to hear a soundcheck or to see the buses coming in, Take lots of water!!! So many ppl got sick from dehydration in that heat! Take an umbrella to cover yourself from the sun too.

I Had an awesome time and I know everyone going to the next shows are going to too!

Take Care,

BECKA
