Hanson's tour this summer is in GREAT danger of being cancelled - but if we all band together we CAN change that! Lisa, the old webmaster at the Hanson Hotel has started a campaign to help move Hanson up the charts which will in turn allow them to tour this Summer. You can find out all about the campaign here: http://www.hansonhotel.com/heart Here's an e-mail that Lisa wrote explaining why everyone is worried:

Hi you guys,

I am sure a lot of you have read about the big drop in the Billboard charts for "This Time Around" 's second week, as well as the fact that Hanson's concert promotor has backed out because of this. Needless to say, I am very upset about this turn of events, as I am sure most of you are. I have been LIVING for this summer, when I would get the opportunity to see my most worshipped band again on tour. And now, that wish has a very real chance of not coming true.

But there is something we fans can try to do about that, and that is to get our asses on the phones and on the computer and request "If Only" like CRAZY.

I know that I myself have been very guilty to not request much at ALL once I got my hot little hands on my CD. I have been thinking, "Oh, who needs radio, I have my guys now, I can hear them 24/7 if I so desire". And hear them 24/7 I do. BUT, look what is happening. People who aren't die hard fans are not even aware that ITZ HAVE a new album out because not enough of them are hearing them on the air. And how can they get the chance to hear them and realize how great they are and therefore buy TTA if that keeps happening?

I know...a lot of us get discouraged with stations that don't play them enough, and I know a lot of people have washed their hands of TRL. BUT, we can NOT give up and let our guys down. They have worked so hard and created this wonderful music for us, and we have GOT to request, request, request, until we are sick of it, and then request some more after that.

So, PLEASE, call your local radio stations, and also go to the request page at hansonline: http://www.hansonline.com/request.html

And, even if you hate it like I do, please go request the guys on TRL. You can do it as many times as you want, any time that you want, and getting played on TRL does figure into some of the charts. Here is the URL for it:

http://www.mtv.com/mtv/tubescan/trl99_new/index.html

Come on you guys, really. If we fans don't do something, it can really be devastating. I was reading in this morning's newspaper about The Smashing Pumpkins breaking up at the end of this year, due in part to slumping sales. I don't know anything about them and their music, but I know I couldn't bear it if something like this happened to Hanson. And like it or not, and even though Hanson is NOT all about money, the record business IS all about money, and no matter how excellent a band is, that is the bottom line. So come on, guys, no matter what, please request, and do NOT give up. Please IMPLORE all of your friends to do the same.

Okay, I'll get off of my soapbox now. But this is a VITALLY important issue, and we must ALL do our part and REQUEST. AND, if there IS anyone out there who hasn't gotten their copy of TTA, you NEED to do it now!

Sincerely,
TLS

The Facts:

Hey Hanson Fans, I don't know how many of you know this, and if you don't know it now, I'm sure you'll get the many forwards that are going around about Hanson's tour. Let me show you the facts first, and what could happen because of these facts.

*8 million copies of Hanson's debut cd, Middle Of Nowhere were sold.
*520,000 in attendance at the Albertane tour, their follow up tour to the cd. That's half a million. The numbers fell.
*64,000 copies of This Time Around sold.

That's 1/8 of the tour audience and nowhere near Middle Of Nowhere's album sales. That's pathetic.

With so much anticipation for this album - WHY isnt it selling?! There's 2 reasons: a) they've changed their style and it's not what's 'In' and most people think they're still KIDS!
b) They took too long with the release. Could this be because of a stolen demo? Who knows...

Here's what YOU can do to help. Join this campaign: http://www.hansonhotel.com/heart/ Request at your radio! Ask your friends to buy the album. If you've got the money, BUY IT FOR YOUR FRIENDS!

There are 2 key words here: Request and Buy. That's what the market is all about. So if we fans want to hear our boys.. we'll have to give it our all.

March 30th...The "TTA" single has already pre-sold 700,000 copies ! Click here to check out the article about it.

Hanson will be attending the first annual www.b94fm.com Adecco Children's Fund Radiothon on Saturday, February 26, at the Monroeville Mall, in Monroeville, PA. Monroeville is a suburb of Pittsburgh. Hanson will be there between 10:00 AM-1:00 PM signing autographs. So, if you can go, make sure you take a donation.

American release dates for "This Time Around":
*"This Time Around" will be released for Radio airplay on March 6th, and will be released *commercially* on April 4th.
*HANSON will release their new album, titled "This Time Around" on the 9th of May 2000.

There has been a lot of argument over at Hanson.net about who sings lead on "If Only", Zac or Taylor??? A couple of my friends e-mailed Ashley Greyson to find out whether it was Tay or Zac.

This is what De found:
"I wrote to Ashley Greyson and asked him and he said it was Taylor. I also asked him if Hanson was going to come back to Hanson net and he said yes they have just been to busy."

Here's what Debbie found:
"He told me that Zac sings lead to only one song. The name is "Wish that I was there". I've never heard that. He also said that Zac has the lowest voice of the 3 and Isaac sings lead to several songs on the album."

Thanks De and Debbie for that awesome goss!

**On January 1st, 2000 A radio station in Fayetteville, North Carolina called Q98 was doing a countdown of the top hits of the 80s and 90s and yes our favorite guys came in at #46 with "MMMBop." Way to go Hanson!

*Time Life Compilation, 1958* So you want to hear the music Hanson has been talking about all these years?! You can buy the album here

Thanks to Nat for this! Wondering what Ike's signature is at Hanson.net? Here's IF ~ by R. Kipling:

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
  And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on !";

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

December 22, 1999...6.00pm, Comedy Central replayed the 1997 Christmas episode of Saturday Night Live with Hanson on it. It was really cool getting to see how the guys looked two years ago even if they didn't show the MMMBop elevator scene again. This was the second time I had scene this episode replayed this Christmas season. Keep tuned in because you never know when it will be on again. I just happened to be using the remote control trying to find something to watch and saw Helen Hunt and knew that I wouldn't bechanging the channel again for a while!

Pascalle sent this to us.

Hello everybody! Just found this post on Hanson.net from someone with the sn Jon McCormick. It is so cool, here you go guys:

<< Okay, all you Hanson fans.  You've been e-mailing us. And e-mailing us. And e-mailing us. You keep saying you're disappointed that we have no Hanson in POPSTAR!, but that will change with the release of their next album on May 9, 2000.  Beginning with a pinup in POPSTAR!  (MAY/JUN 2000)—our "boy band boy-nanza" issue—we will bring you s'more of the Hanson guyz. And here is some juicy news: We were among a handful of magz invited to Mercury's offices to listen to 6 of the NEW songs that will appear on Hanson's still-untitled album. Because by the time we print it in the mag it will be months from now, we're letting you Hanson fans know some details now, by e-mail: 5 of the songs were really fast, driving rock songs, and there was 1 ballad.The obvious pick hit (to our ears) was "If Only"—it has the sound of one ofthose songs radio programmers will want to play over and over. It begins with areally bizarre musical hiccupping noise that is so catchy it just might help make some Hanson hatas into Hanson playas. "If only I had the guts to feel thisway/You'd look at me and want to stay/I'd take you in my arms and say/That I won't go because I need you/Please don't go because I need you now"--these are *not* exact lyrics, just a guesstimate to give you a taste. It's a reallllly romantic song and is a possible single. The other possible single is an equally strong ditty called "This Time Around"(nope, not a Michael Fredo remake, ha). This one is really lush and heartfelt,and contains melancholy lyrics like "I'm feeling older" and "It's getting cold now". It's very Goo Goo Dolls...but very '70s...but totally Hanson. The other uptempo titles were "Do You Love Me?" (really driving rock song with Jonny Lang guesting and a defiant edge), "Run Away Run" (this one had a Bryan Adams wail and a short but amazing Zac drum break), "Dying to Be Alive" (really fragile and sweet vocals backed up by Rose Stone and her choir for an orchestral feel). The ballad was a sweet one called "Song to Sing" that was really reminiscent ofan old Billy Joel song, complete with extreme piano usage.  Overall, the effect on the room was, "Wow."It's clear that—as from the beginning—Hanson is a rock band with serious cred. These guys have followed up their previous success with impeccably produced pop that Hanson fans will find mesmerizing.Now we just have to make people FORGET all their negative ideas about Hanson,because the guys really deserve a strong reception for this music. Extra trivia: They've recorded 14 tracks, but are expected to whittle that downto 11 or 12 for the final CD. All of the above are set to appear.

This is pretty exciting. Thanks Pascalle!

Hanson made a 30 second appearance on an Aussie TV show called "Hey Hey It's Saturday". They thanked the TV show for all the support they'd given them over the past few years. It was cool for us Aussie's to see. We haven't had Hanson on TV since the Melrose Place appearance!

Clare Grogan Show on VH1-UK - Hanson were interviewed from the studio a couple weeks ago! Check out the interview and pictures here.

Yahoo! just opened the Yahoo! Clubhouse where they showcase the latest clubs. For their grand opening they showcased the Official Hanson club - here's what they said:

"Three blonde youngsters -- one giant gathering. The grand opening of Yahoo! Clubhouse wouldn't be complete without this, the biggest club we've got. Over twenty thousand fans swarm here, buzzing about how mmmarvelous they think Isaac, Taylor, and Zachary are."

Hanson are also listed in the "Clubs Top Ten - Most Members" category. They are still Number one. N'Sync came in at Number four!!

There is a poll going on at Entertainment Weekly Online and these results will be put in an upcoming EW magazine. It's the poll for Top Entertainers of Tomorrow. Apparently they have already gotten nominations. And Hanson is *not* amongst the list in their category. You can email the webmasterhere and tell them they forgot Hanson.

BB MAGAZINE - WINTER 1999

"Fast Forward to Hanson's New CD"

Hey Hanson fans! Ready for a new album already? Well, the Tulsa, Oklahoma, musicians--Isaac, Taylor and Zac Hanson--tell us exactly what you can expect. MMMBop, ba, do, ba, do, ba, doo bop...

We could sing that song as well as "Gimme Some Lovin'" from 1998's Hanson: Live From Albertane, until the end of time. But, Ike, Taylor and Zac Hanson say that won't be necessary, snce they've been spending serious days away from the spotlight and in the studio. Yes, Hanson fans, your fave songsters have been working on their future release, due out later this year, and you can be sure their new songs will be just as special as the ones you already know and love.

How can we be so sure the new CD's gonna rock? Well, for starters, Taylor, the band's lead vocalist and keyboardist, tells BB that he and his bros have been on an ultra-creative kick. "I think that what is most important is that we continue to be creative and put out the best music possible. I think music should continue to change, evolve and keep things interesting," the 16-year-old says. One thing that will totally make this album way-special is that it will be totally personal. "So far, all the songs we've written by ourselves, without any co-writers," Tay shares.

Yep, the Hanson bros have written more than 25 songs so far. But, of course, not all will make the final cut. "We have a lot of songs, but it's hard to say whether they will be on the record or not," Isaac, the band's 18-year-old guitarist, notes. He adds, "Our goal is to do something different, to make a record no one has made--but, at the same time, keep some similarities [to 1997's Middle of Nowhere], so that we don't leave people thinking, "Wait, is this a totally different band?"

READY 2 ROCK

While Isaac and Taylor look forward to making an awesome album, 13-year-old drummer Zac tells BB what what he is most excited about is performing live. "I was at a show the other day," Zac remembers, "and I was sitting and just realizing how much fun it is to be in front of the fans playing music. So that is one of the things I am mainly looking forward to." And as for feeling pressure about how the fans will like the new album, the guys are not worried a bit. "No one, especially us, would have thought that Middle of Nowhere would have done as well as it did," Isaac says, "so with this one, we're just going forward and [will] continue to make the best record we can." So be patient, Boppers. Even though the guys can't tell us exactly how long it'll be before their long-awaited CD hits your local record store, time will go by fast... in an MMMBop it'll be here!

Hanson takes surfing lessons at Paskowitz Surf Camp in southern California,where Sarah McLachlan & Chris Isaak also learn to ride the waves! According to Tay from an article in Smash Hits, "We've been getting real good at it, especially Zac, he wasn't too cool with it at first, but now he really loves it!"

Worlds.com Announces Installation Results From Its Internet-Enhanced Hanson CD

Worlds.com Believes It Has Achieved Highest Installation Percentages Ever for an Internet-Enhanced Record Artist CD (Sept. 9, 1999)

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE) Worlds.com Online Community of Members Grows by the Thousands as Result of 32% Installation Rate Invaluable Database Information Can Be Used By Record Labels to Target Market New CD Buyers Worlds.com (OTC:WLDI - news; www.worlds.com), formerly Worlds Inc., today announced results from its leading-edge three dimensional (3D) Internet technology and broadband content on a special CD that was released by platinum recording artists Hanson, a band that sold over 11 million CDs in 1997 and 1998.
The HansonWorld CD has been sent to approximately 30,000 members of the Hanson Fan Club ``MOE'' with more expected to be sent out over the coming months. To date, nearly 9,000 new e-mail registrations have been received by Worlds.com from Hanson fan club members.
In total, this initiative has resulted in more than 10,000 new unique users who have become registered Worlds.com community members (up to three unique user names per e-mail address).
The Hanson fan club user rates have also been quite impressive as measured by the 268 minutes each unique user, on average, spent at the Worlds.com site during the months of July and August, the first two full months for which results are available. This monthly usage time online is more than double the time the average unique user spends online monthly on the 16th ``stickiest'' site on the Internet (out of the top 500 sites) as measured by Media Metrix, based upon average minutes spent per usage day for home users in April 1999.
According to Worlds.com Chairman Steven G. Chrust, ``I believe, based upon conversations with various record company and record label executives, this represents the highest percentage installation rate for any enhanced audio CD ever.'' Chrust went on to note that ``this further proves that highly interactive and immersive 3D environments such as Worlds.com has created can be an invaluable asset to both the record companies and their recording artists. The record company has the ability to secure very valuable opt-in e-mail addresses from the CD purchasers that install the Worlds.com custom virtual worlds created for each specific record artist.
"The e-mail addresses captured can be used by the record companies to then target market that particular record artist's back catalogue CD product, upcoming new single and album CDs from that artist, as well as target market promotions for other record artists in the same music genre as the artist for whom the e-mail address has been obtained.''
Chrust further noted that ``for Worlds.com, the very high installation rate further evidences that record companies and labels, utilizing Worlds.com's proprietary technology and content, have a way of delivering media rich, highly interactive and immersive 3D content.
``The record companies' CDs, when combined with Worlds.com's proprietary Internet technology and graphically rich broadband content, can provide them with a very valuable partnership in enhancing their traditional audio CD customers experience. Moreover, they will benefit from the target user database information valuable for future product marketing.''

*OFFICIAL WORD* from Chris Sabec, Hanson's manager! "Some people are probably viewing old schedules that were based on the record beginning in May and being released in October. Obviously, we took longer to get underway in the studio, so the record will be delayed in being released. It will not be out until early 2000." -Chris Sabec So there you have it, straight from the horses mouth! Unfortunately it's not what we wanted to hear.

Hanson were on "Before They Were Rock Stars". This episode apparently doesn't show them at Mayfest but at some sort of dance recital. If you missed it, it airs again August 24 at 8:30pm, August 29 at 11:30am and August 30 at 1:30pm. All times are Eastern Standard Time and it's on VH1.

This just in from Pascalle... About the Ric Ocasek deal, Christopher emailed me about it and several others and I think there was a post on the NG about it too. The man was only supposed to do three songs with Hanson and that is what he did. All the other things in the RS article were lies according to Christopher.

This is from , Fiona, thanks... Hanson received a mention tonight on Jacki O's (a segment section part of Ugly Phil's Hot 30) GOSSIP - stating that: 'production is in the final stages on the new CD and RUMORS about the title of the CD are flying around, one heard was 'Something Came Up'. Note that this is still a rumour!!

While searching through the Yahoo transcripts the other day I found these, the first is from March 1999 and the question was answered by Mickey Hart, the ex drummer for the Greatful Dead!!

ScurvyWarthands asks: What are your thoughts about Bob sittin' in w/ Hanson?

YahooGuest1: LOL! You know, Bob's a funny guy, he has a strange sense of humor. He'll do anything for a laugh. And I got to tell you, Hanson they are not bad players, Those kids can play. That drummer can play! So Hanson, Shmanson! If they stay with it, some day they'll be great musicians. But Bob is funny, he'll let things, happen, he's open to a lot of things. I thought it was amusing myself. I saw those kids play, not personally, but I saw them on a show, and they can play.

This question was asked during the Blues Travellers chat in August 1998 and was answered by John:

Cupid17x: I heard that while you were in VA beach doing a show you sang "MmmBop" with Hanson. Did you have fun doing that? Do you like Hanson?

Blues Traveler: It was a real treat to play "Mmmmmm Bop" with Hanson. Whether you like Hanson or not, or the song that song has historical basis. Centuries from now, everyone will have to concede that back in the 90s. Hanson's music affected contemporary music. The boys were nice enough. Humble, polite, etc. But I'd like to talk about their musicianship for a second. When were their respective agews. We couldn't play instruments nearly as well. When I first saw Hanson on video. I remember feeling a little concerned for them. Insofar as they are cute little blonde boys who will be chewed up and spit out. By an uncaring and fickle teenybopper, radio-friendly audience. The reason this concerned me was that they seemed to care about playing their own instruments and writing their own songs. It my hope that given enough time to interact with other musicians. As they get older they will continue to grow in their playing and their songwriting. I think they did a fine job. Bravely walking on someone else's stage. A stage full of musicians who can really play. And sell a hit song to a very skeptical crowd. What was weird for me was looking back and seeing young Zach behind the drums. Because he looked exactly like Brendan when he was 13 and I first started playing with him. Quite the eerie flashback. Hanson has both blessed and cursed for being cute in a teen idol kind of way. If I was them, I would milk it till the teat is dry. And then regard as merely an introductory chapter in their musical career.

The Ugly Phil interview with Hanson went to air last night in Australia. Unfortunately I have not heard it because they took Phil's show off the air where I live (I'm waiting for a friend to send it to me), however, you can read a transcript of the interview at the Hanson Hotel. It's in the "Sound Off" room.
