Cincinnati concert Aug 3, 1998
Highlights:
- Meeting Kim & Kate, Michelle, Becca & Marlee, Dawn, Kathy, her brother Phil, & reuniting with Michelle & Suzanne.
- Receiving presents from Kim & Michelle! They gave us adults necklaces with "I love (heart) Hanson" on them! Michelle's daughter Becca made ankle bracelets in Green, Red & Blue for our daughters! What a wonderful surprise!! We wore them proudly.
- Walking around the building to look at Admiral Twins blazer (OK. license plates!).
- Taking group pictures!
- Eating lunch at Bob Evans. Met two more younger adults from Hanson Hotel MB.
- Listening to the sound check from 3-4pm.
- Seeing Diana, Zoe, & Mac walking the concession stand area.
- Mac coming to the fence waving his hands in a "calm down" motion that Tay uses. He came within 4 ft of the fence. He stood there grinning saying," No pictures, please" and "No yelling". Everyone was quiet as they looked at him. Then he fell down to the ground. He laid on his back with his legs pulled up, just grinning away. After a few minutes a guy & girl came to take him back to Diana. He went real limp & they had to practically carry him a few steps. Then he walked away spinning around in circles. So adorable!!.
- Seeing Jessica & Avery walking the concession area. A few girls were yelling to them & they went and hid behind a parked blazer.
- Michelle walking the lawn trying to sell the 3 900 sec. tickets. Sold two & one at a discount.
- Getting our souvenirs. The 1998 calendar (Jessica), t-shirt with black long sleeves (Regina). Something for winter! Last, but not least, a pin for Amy, who asked me to pin it on her shirt as soon as we bought it!
- Michelle, Kim, Michelle, Dawn, Kathy looking for backstage passes. My Amy's' feet gave out so I watched the girls.
- Seeing Jessica & Suzanne running to me all excited about getting their calendars signed by John Russell & Jarrod Gollihair.
- Taking Amy & Marlee to John & Jarrod to get autographs. Good thing I brought some paper!
- ME getting Michelle's calendars & my shirt signed by John & Jarrod. John is CUTE! My daughter Jessica thinks the same about Jarrod.
- Gazing at the buses that brought THEM in.
- As we waited for the concert to begin screams arose all around us & heads were turned to the buses & trailers. A white frisbee was flying through the air!! You could also see black boots running back & forth under the trailer.
- Seeing a quick glimpse of TAY catching the frisbee & quickly disappearing again. I'm NOT positive, but he had on dark clothes, short ponytail, & slim body. Who else could it be??
- Jessica & I saw Ashley Greyson walking around. Jessica wanted to get his autograph & I wanted to talk to him about the DC talk shirt that he had on (they are my 2ND fave band!). He started walking quickly away & we couldn't catch up with him...
- Admiral Twin rocked as usual & we felt that we KNOW them now. Well, at least John & Jarrod. he he
- I had Amy standing on the chair & a security guard made her get down. She cried (she's 7) that she couldn't see so I picked her up. She was taller with me holding her than when she was standing on the chair!
- I felt sorry for AT because the frisbee throwing continued & it was a MAJOR distraction as girls screamed looking AWAY from the stage. Also, when AT said it was there last song the girls screamed like they were happy...no tact.
- Posters & people blocking the VIEW by standing on chairs. Call me a hypocrite, but I'm not talking little kids here. I was spitting fire for the first couple of songs!! Michelle asked a guard to get them down & she replied that the girls were rude. She did go to them & they dropped down (for awhile at least) . Grrrr!
- Ahhhhhh finally! I can SEE them! Ike wore a grey button-up over a black T ,maroon LEATHER pants. Zac wore a black shirt, w/ white stripes on the sleeves, and black, brown, orange,&yellow cammie pants. Tay wore a silver button-up, grey T & black pants.
-The music was WONDERFUL of course!!
- Tay behind the drums. I LOVED that! I was trying so hard to see around the posters that went up. BAN THOSE THINGS!! I brought one, but I didn't hold it up. I didn't want the people behind me to go through what I was.
- Throughout the show the super soakers were used. It was hot & humid & I could have used some of that water! A person on the front row had a tiny water gun & shot it at Zac. He retaliated!!
- Ike was playing the guitar close to the edge & a fan squirted him & he shook his head at her slightly and she didn't do it again. He's playing an ELECTRIC guitar!
- The 3 car set was more mellow & I could actually hear them singing (couldn't in DC). This set brings them down to a more personal level with the fans.
- After the 3 car set Tay changed into a patterned button up w/ grey T shirt.
- They played at least 3 songs that I didn't hear at the DC concert. They were pulling out all the stops!
- Poor Tay was wacked upside the head with a glow thingie while he was singing IWC2U. He flinched, but kept on going.
- The guys did their "we have to go" & "do you want us to come back out?" teaser.
- Before their next song the supersoakers came out & they started spraying the audience. THEN Tay pumped up his soaker & blasted Ike with it! Ike kind of paused for a couple of seconds as if to decide what to do. He turned away, pumped up HIS soaker & let Tay have it!! It was hilarious watching them!! Of course, Zac couldn't be left out of all the fun. He took his water bottle & dumped the WHOLE thing on Tay's head!!! Needless to say Tay was thoroughly soaked!!! His back was facing the audience & he threw his hair back & sprayed the front row. The guys were having a "ton of fun"!! The crowd was also loving every minute of it!!
- Right before they began playing "Summertime Blues" Tay took his outer shirt off & began playing the keyboards in a drenched grey T! I give you permission to visualize...BTW, if anyone has a pic of this, please send it my way!
- With all the water on the floor I feared for Tay's safety!! He was running all over the place & even climbed a few feet on something that was on the side of the stage.
- They sang the Weird accapella! They didn't get a chance to do that at DC, so I was thrilled to hear it.
- They went around shaking hands & Zac helped pull Tay away from an overzealous fan.
- They did their bow & walked casually off the stage as everyone screamed after them.
- Our "gang" stayed out in the parking lot waiting for the bus departure. After about an hour, a security guard came up to us & said they were at Coney Island (on the other side of the lot). We were like "yeah, right". Well, a few teens who also had stayed walked over there. As we debated as to go too, the lights came on the waterslide!! We could see people climbing the stairs with innertubes. Well, that was enough proof to us!! As we began walking over, a brigade of bicycling security came & chased us out of the lot... so CLOSE, yet....
- The next day my girls & I went to Kings Island. The tickettaker saw our Hanson shirts & said that Hanson had been there yesterday!!!! So of course, all I could think of the whole time was "did they ride that", "where did they eat", "did they touch that?" It was also cool to see a lot of Hanson fans there!
- Where do these guys get their energy?? Kings Island, sound check, concert, Coney's Island. All in ONE day!! I'm exhausted just thinking about it.
- Once again we had a GREAT time at a Hanson concert!!!
