A very little is known about the Canadian R&B music scene. Actually there are quite a few superb R&B artists in Canada. Most of them are based in Toronto, the nation's capital. Unfortunately, Canadian R&B artists are not getting enough props that they deserve and many of them have left their country to move to the States for a bigger success. Such artists include Deborah Cox and Tamia. I would like to introduce 2 Canadian artists that I'm particularly interested in.
I found this great artist, Glenn Lewis, on the album titled "GROOVEssentials Volume One" (BEATFACTORY), which I bought on my last trip to Toronto, Canada. BEATFACTORY is a Toronto-based record label specializing in R&B and Hip Hop music and "GROOVEssentials Volume One" is a compilation album that consists of 14 tracks featuring 13 artists. Though I heard only one song of Glenn's ("The Thing To Do"), which is the very first track on this album, his silky smooth voice and beautiful melody line really captured my attention. I'd like to keep my eyes on this young artist full of potentials. (Teo/Sep. 1998)
I heard that this very talented lady has already relocated to the States. Now she lives in New York and she appeared in one of Redman's videos as a dancer. (Teo/Sep. 1998)
