The
SPICE GIRLS were chosen to star the new worldwide Pepsi publicitary campaign
— GENERATION NEXT. Why? Obvious... they represent a new generation, with
new attitudes towards our society stereotypes. It was certainly a perfect
choice...
The music sung on the first and main TV commercial exhibited, in Brazil, is a compilation of some parts from the song Move Over which is one of the tracks from the second album, SpiceWorld. The TV commercial, that is about 20 seconds long, shows and assimilates the SPICE GIRLS to the soft drink; purely attitude and modernity.
The TV commercial used to be the main one in Europe, where it was shown frequently, and in Brazil it has been frequently exhibited on MTV Brasil for a long time. Nowadays, in Brazil, the soccer players sponsored by Pepsi are starring the TV commercials. There's a version sung in Japanese (not by the girls) and actually we know that the girls have already recorded or are recording some other TV commercials for Pepsi.
Due to the fact of being sponsored by Pepsi, the girls took part of a project called Pepsi Music, which means that artists record exclusive singles for the enterprise. These singles aren't commercialized, but changed for cans and other items from the enterprise. The SPICE GIRLS recorded the song Step To Me which is also featured on SpiceWorld's Japanese version with a bonus track.
Pepsi is also the main sponsor of the SPICE GIRLS, besides being paying for the world tour of the band, which may arrive in Brazil on the second semester of this year and in the US from June to August... we're just waiting! A GENERATION NEXT!
