John had his musical initiation about the 7, 8 years of age. He listened to the albums and he used to play along the tracks, including the solos. At this time, JOHN enrolled in "CASA MILTON", a traditional store that sells musical instruments and that also offers music teachers, in order to learn how to play the guitar. There, came the unexpected: JOHN knew more about practicing than the teacher that didn’t even know the solos of the songs he taught! The teacher got quiet annoyed with that!!!

RANDY RHOADS is a hero that will always be in our hearts. JOHN’S major influence as a guitarist! During the tour of the album "NO REST FOR THE WICKED", of OZZY OSBOURNE, a rumor came out that ZAKK WYLDE, has been fired for his terrible behavior. Then, JOHN tried to contact CBS(Ozzy’s label ate that time), to have an audition to fill the vacancy. As everything was just a rumor, JOHN didn’t get na answer from the recording company and ZAKK continued enhancing Ozzy Osbourne’s band.

When DOKKEN broke up, the band split into three: LYNCH MOB, DON DOKKEN and WAR&PEACE. After the tour of the album "UP FROM THE ASHES", DON DOKKEN’S band simply came undone. When he heard the news, JOHN prepared a set list of DOKKEN’S and DON DOKKEN’S songs, to try an audition. Everything was going fine, but JOHN dated a girl at that time and JOHN was madly in love with her. As love is blind, deaf, dumb and paralyzing, JOHN turned down the project to be with the girl. In 1993, his girlfriend broke up with him cowardly by phone, leading him to blue and depressing time.

In 1990, the nasty girlfriend shows up for the first time. JOHN was ready to move to LA, California and he gave it up because of her!!!

JOHN jamed with BILL LEVERTY from FIREHOUSE and had a jam session with the band too.

JOHN did everything he could to make his name well-known and WITHOUT having GIVEN A SHOW, he got a fan club of more than 300 members!!!!!!

JOHN become a true legend in BRAZIL because his band had turned to be a true mystery, because people had heard a lot about it, but nobody had really heard of his music. Musicians feared of becoming part of the band, due to grandiosity of the project.

JOHN has already had to change his telephone number because of a fan that called him insistently!!!

A very curious fact is that in spite of being a HARD ROCK/AOR artist, JOHN MA has been conquering fans of all ages and of all musical tastes.

The songs "Don’t Forget Yesterday" and "You Are All That I Need" are played all day long at EQUIPE 1 GYMM, in Copacabana, WITH LOTS OF REQUESTS!!!

JOHN is crazy about two TV SERIES: "MARRIED WITH CHILDREN" and "THE WONDER YEARS".

JOHN used to play the guitar very loud in the old building where he used to live. The neighbors called him to request songs and not to complain about the noise!!!

JOHN used to work at a music store called PRO MUSIC, in Copacabana, a true home for him!!! There, besides having attracted an enormous clientele, people started to go there only to watch JOHN playing the guitar. PEDRO CAMPOS, one of the owners of the store, nicknamed him as "OUR MEGA-STAR". PRO MUSIC became one of JOHN’S biggest motivation.

A very important fact. Someone nit to be forgotten is the manager BRUNO MASETTI, owner of the store POINTER DISC in Ipanema. He was the one who taught JOHN everything about the show business and created JOHN’S whole professional feeling. It was him who matured JOHN about the show business and about being a TRUE PROFESSIONAL. He was a very important person in JOHN’S career and it seems he will continue being so due to all his human and professional sense.

One of the biggest help is credited to the people who works at a store called CANTINHO SONORO, in Copacabana, that sells VCRs, sound systems, cds, electronic equipments and also repairs equipments. There, he met RICARDO BRANDÃO and JOÂO CARLOS, popularly known as "PERY". They also helped in JOHN’S professional formation, they tried to give him all possible, impossible and unimaginable help. For sure they were JOHN’S biggest incentivators!
