This is a really good day and I am so happy to see all of you, and I shake all of your hands from my heart! My Lakota name is Little Elk Running Over The Enemy, but my American name is David Little Elk. I am from the Cheyenne River Sioux and Rosebud Sioux Tribes, and I am also from the Fights The Thunder extended family.

This web-site is divided into two sections. The first part is about my music, as I am a musician, composer, and I record my music in my own recording studio. The second part of this web-site is about some of my writings which I use to teach my Lakota Language and Culture students.




The above two photos are the covers to my current CD's which are now available. Please click on either photo to hear some clips of my music. My music promotes the Lakota ways which develop complete health: physically, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally.



This is my book which I use to teach my Lakota Language and Culture students, concerning the Lakota Culture. My book on Lakota Language will be completed very soon. This website also contains excerpts of what I have written and they can be accessed by clicking on the links below in the TABLE of CONTENTS section, as well.

The Lakol Wicoh'an (our beautiful way of life) develops contentedness by the taking care of one's total self: heart, mind, body & soul. The Lakol Wicoh'an is also about living an active life and surviving, in a healthy manner. The information and stories on this web-site are the foundation of our Lakota ways. The Lakol Wicoh'an is not dogmatic, as we each have our own visions. What may work for one may not work for another. Hence, this website presents only one account of the Lakota Perspective.

It is my hope that this web-site will help you to learn and live your own vision. As we each strive to live our visions, we feed the energy which connects us to each other and to all life. My primary caretake was my mother who is from the Itazipco Lakota, who reside on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation. As a result, the information on this web-site carries an Itazipco-flavor.

Lakol Wicoh'an kin lila waste na lila tewahila, k'eyas le wicoh'an kin lila otehike. This means, "The Lakota Ways are very beautiful and I really love them; however, these ways are difficult." The reason for this is because the Lakol Wicoh'an is the key to existence. Hence, the title of my book, WICOH'AN OTEHIKE, which means "the difficult path".
