Pictures of my wheel thrown Artifacts*

*Artifacts because if they come out of the glaze firing looking massively stupid, I'm going to bury them in the back yard for future archaeologists to find.

Wheel thrown bottles. The bottles are basic shapes thrown on the wheel. These 3 here must be an inch thick all he was down. I don't quite kow how I managed to get them that thich, but anyhow. I did try to reduce the weight by trimming the sides of the bottles, into this attractive drip shape, but it was difficult to do. I then tried carving the sides to reduce weight. Couldnt' carve nearly deep enough as it was already begining to dry. The bottom was still reasonably thick and wet so I managed to scrape a deep dimple into it without reducing the weight much. Here they are mostly dry. The inside is still wet I'm sure as it is really thick.

When making an open form like a bowl or a plate it needs to be thrown on a removable disk so you can let it dry elsewhere and still be able to throw other pots. This is the top view of a plate... This plate has been removed from the disk, been trimmed, and is drying. Imagine it with a disk under it.

This is the bottom of a plate that has been removed from the disk. It's better to dry them upside down so that they have more surface area exposed... and they won't warp when they dry. In this stage i actually put my finger through the rim of one plate which left a scallop edge. I then just cut scoops out of the rim to make it look like a planned out thing. It will be so awesome.

This is a bowl which has been trimmed at the bottom. The bottoms of the plates look pretty much the same. Yeah. Ok I know this is boring so I'll leave this here and update it when cooler pictures get taken.
