CHILDHOOD'S END

Arthur C. Clark

Aliens called 'Overlords' land and take care of mankind for some unknown purpose. The Overlords have very simple names like Rashaverak and Thanthalteresko.
grade B
-The Overlords were much too passive, much like Star Trek's Vulcans.

1984

George Orwell

The British Government has been fascist for quite some time (before 1984), and one of the lowly workers gets wise to the tricks of Big Brother and hopes for a revolution. He also finds a girlfriend. How sweet.
grade B+

-It got a bit confussing at the end.

The Martian Chronicles

Ray Bradbury
A collection of short stories that tell the tale of how Mars was conquered. And with Martian names like "Mr. Iii" you won't have trouble with pronounciation.
grade A-
-The Martians went extinct to quickly.

CARRIE

Stephen King
A 'late-bloomer' and outcast discovers telekinetic abilities while shunning her bible-thumping mother.
grade D-
-Stephen King novels are not scary. Don't waste your time reading this book, just rent the movie. Or better yet, Shoot yourself instead.

CATCH-22

Joseph Heller

What a wonderfully sarcastic book. This should be required reading in every school. Everyone out of school should be also required to read it. It's about a soldier in WWII named Yossarian who wants out of the war because he's afraid he'll be killed. All of his peers are creepy. They all die too. The movie version of Catch 22 is not so good. Check it out anyways.

Grade A+
- Highly recomend that you read it yourself.
