I found this article on the PhilMusic site. It's about HYP (no, duh!).
The HYPE on
HYP:
Hungry Young
formed by Ricci
Gurango and Barbie
Almalbis, who were
later joined by
Franklin Benitez after
the album was
finished (session
drummers JunJun Regalado and Color It Red's
Minco Fabregas played on the album).
Barely a year old and working mostly on original
songs, HYP was signed by Sony Music Philippines
in April 1997. The album was released in October
1997 and spawned the hit singles "Deep" and
"Torpe".
In December 1997,
HYP was one of the
select bands chosen
for the MTV-Asia Live
& Loud sessions,
which was broadcast
all over Asia.
They
performed an
all-original set. HYP
also performed at the
1998 Asia Wind
Festival in Shanghai,
China.
Hungry Young Poets was recently awarded "Best
New Artist" in RX 93.1 Manila's Year-End
Countdown. They will soon be filming a video for the
next single, "Firewoman".
