911 The Greatest Hits and A Little Bit More

BRITISH pop trio 911 has captured the many hearts of many teenage girl's heart in Britain and Asia since Lee Brennan, Jimmy Constable and Spike Dawbarn decided to take the pop route to stardomin 1995.

Just four years down the road and three ablums releases to their name (The Journey, Movin' On and There It Is), the boys have decided it's time for a greatest hits collection.

Rumours are definitely rite of split, just as rife as the pending split of Irish counterparts Boyzone, who themselves have released greatest hits collection after five years and three ablums.

But whatever the reasons, this is an oppurtunity to look back at a career which spanned 12 singles releases for the trio, the boy band have to unofficcially inherited the mantle of the Best British boy band from Take That.

Starting their career with the disco-pop cover of Shalamar's Night To Remember, the boys mastered the mid-tempo easy-going upbeat feel in tracks like Don't Make Me Wait, the pop-gospel Wonderland, Love Sensation and Party People ... Friday Night (with it's disco-esque bassline) and Bodyshakin'.

The boys are no stranger to ballads, which include The Journey (certainly a a good way to close the ablum) and The Day We Find Love, but offering such as All I Want Is You, How Do You Want Me To Love You and If You'd Only Love Me tended to sound too formulaic, although they are more commercially successful.

Altough the third ablum There Is it was an ablum of covers, only three released as singles are, Private Number, the Bee Gees' disco classic More Than Woman and that Dr Hook ballad A Little Bit More, appear on this set, along with the debut single Night To Remember.

Quite an easy feel to the whole retrospective, really. There are a class act, as boy bands go, and yes,one could dare say that it would a pity if the rumours of their breaking up are true and their current Asian tour (which includes Malaysia) could be their last... Last we heard, the boys denied it. If they do split, they will be missed for a while...
