April 28,2000: LUPUS 2000!! June 25th Universal Studios Florida. Howie, his sisters and guest musicians are to perform for this benefit in remeberance of Dorough sister Caroline who died from lupus complications in September 1998.

April 9,2000: Hey, I just heard on MTV news that Howie is expected to start filming for the movie "Bloom" later this year. In the movie Howie plays a bully who picks on a young boy about to celebrate his bar mitzvah. Howie? A bully?? Now that's acting! Keep your eyes out for our Howard on the big screen!

So, As I'm sure you all noticed in MILLENNIUM, Howie thanks all the people that he wrote with. This included Foxy Brown. 9/15/98:My sister heard an update on that somewhat 'gossipy' radio station about the Backstreet Boys. Sadly, it is confirmed that Caroline, Howie's sister, died unexpectedly from Lupus. On my main page I had already put some links to the Lupus Foundation and the National Sjogren's Syndrome Association (which is related to Lupus). Go to my home page and scroll down to the links so you can learn more about the diseases. They are very informative sites which I have checked out in the past. I have been trying to get people to learn about both of these relatively unknown diseases...for you BSB fans out there and Howie lovers, unfortunately, if this is a way for you to learn more about it, please do. Remember that this is a personal tragedy so respect that and I don't expect there to be any more news on it.
9/14/98: I just got a call from my sister in NY who just heard on the radio station that there has been a loss reportedly, (VERY VERY UNOFFICIAL) in Howie D's family. At this point in time she's not sure who it is, it's rumoured that it was one of his sisters. But I went to the Official BSB website and found this: "New York, NY ... The scheduled performance by the Backstreet Boys on September 13 at the KDWB's "Last Chance Summer Dance" at the Canterbury Park in Shakopee, MN was unfortunately canceled due to a group member's personal family tragedy. The group deeply apologizes for disappointing their fans and the radio station and will reschedule their performance with KDWB at a later date. The Backstreet Boys will resume the tour beginning tonight as scheduled in Allegan, MI. "
I will post an update once I find out exactly what happened. Like I said, all this about it being one of Howie's sisters is NOT OFFICIAL. The only thing official is what the Backstreet Boys OFFICIAL website says. Keep your thoughts and prayers with the boys...
9/10/98: Apparently, Sweet D has been getting his hands into some real estate. On Regis and Kathie Lee (9/2/98), Howie revealed that he has started using some of the money he's made to start up his own company. Howie deals with condos on the east(?) coast of Florida. (--I don't have a VCR with me right now so I can't tell you for sure what he said. When I do I'll make the appropriate corrections.--) I've read that the company's name is: Sweet D Inc. Here's some more on Howie's Real Estate Adventures from 'People Online' where the BSB were one of the top stories:

"Howie, 24, has begun developing Florida condos in case the group winds up a one-blockbuster wonder. "We're not anywhere close to millionaires yet," he says. "But what we have made I'm trying to be wise with. "Still, there's that occasional urge to splurge. Howie recently purchased a purple Corvette Stingray," ---People Online
