NEW KIDS JUNIOR

I always thought about this when I was a kid. The New Kids got their name because I thought to myself that they're kids and they're new in the music business. HO-HUM… yeah… they're singers and they're quite popular. Don't they have other things to do than just sing? You know, like finding the not-yet-visited deserted pools or rivers, or maybe looking for a lost key that leads to a buried old chest that bears ancient treasures, or probably running away from bullies in school? Nah, I just figured , you know, it might be fun to do that.

When I tried to draw the New Kids as some youngsters who love to roam around looking for fun, adventures and of course, trouble, I was having some troubles of my own. I'm trying to find their identities and personalities to bring out their characters and to bring them to life. You guys (or maybe girls) might have seen some of their cartoons on TV, right? THAT was my biggest inspiration.

According to what I saw on the cartoons, Donnie's really persistent, Danny's totally clumsy, Jonathan's too organized, Jordan's a real charmer and lil' Joe's a cool guy-next-door you know. Then I observed their adventures, and ok, I'll be frank. Some of them were really… silly, you know. But It's cool. I really won't miss an episode.

But what I noticed, they were of course singers and were mobbed by half-crazed fans sometimes. So I wondered maybe I could do something different, like portrayed them to be normal kids, you know.

Wasn't easy at first. I couldn't find my style of drawing yet. Soon, I got used to drawing the New Kids that I can't draw anything else besides the New Kids. Gosh, I remembered when I was in elementary school. The teacher was explaining in front and I was drawing the guys' adventures behind. Yeah, I did get caught, but hey, it's the best memory I've had.
