Chapter Five

"With my parents and brothers gone, how am I supposed to get in the house?"Amber asked.

"Um... Do you have a spare key?" Zac suggested.

"We just moved in. I doubt.... wait... there's something on the door!" she realized. She dragged Zac to the front door, on which, there was a note. Amber hurried to read it.

"Dear Amber-
Sorry we left without you, but we didn't know when to expect you home. We had to leave to get some necessary supplies. We'll be home soon. If you're wondering how to get in, there's a spare key where we have always left one.

Love;

Mom, Dad, Chris and Chad"

"Oh, gooshness! They scared me out of my wits! I thought I had gotten enough of that for one day.." she said, as she glanced towards Zac and reached behind the porch light, revealing a small key.

"Gooshness?" Zac asked, realizing he had never heard that word before.

"Yeah. It's a word my friend back in Washington made up." she shrugged as she unlocked the front door and they stepped inside.

"You just moved in...?" Zac asked as he looked around at everything put in a proper spot, and not a box to be found.

"Yeah, my mom likes to get things done as quick as possible. She's always been like that." Amber explained.

"Well, let's do some exploring, then!" he suggested. As they began looking in various places, Amber prayed her mom had just left everything in a corner in her room. She hated it when she had everything just where she DIDN'T like it. But even if all the furniture was put away, all that really mattered was that her mom didn't get into her posters. Not all of them belonged on her wall... in fact, hardly any of them did. Especially now since one of the main poster designs was walking through her house, and the rest were just next door.

"Hey!" Zac destroyed her train of thought, "Here's a room that hasn't been finished." He opened the door for Amber to see. The boxes were labeled "Amber's things" ,"Amber's Stuff", and "Keep out, don't touch!" One box, inparticular, caught Zac's eye. It happened to be the one labled "Amber's Posters" "Posters, huh?" he asked as he advanced on the box. He had just gotten his hands on it when the doorbell rang. Zac groaned as he followed her to the door, and Amber breathed a sigh of relief. She opened the door to find Taylor and Isaac there, with Jessica and Avery, but no Mackenzie.

"You didn't find him?" she asked, fearing the worst.

"No." Ike reported, " We were kind of hoping you could watch Jess and Avey while the rest of us look..." he began but didn't get to finish his sentance because he was interuppted by Amber's dog barking sharply in the backyard.

"Hold on, Isaac." she said.

"Ike, please. Call me Ike." he corrected her.

"Alright, Ike." she smiled and walked to her back door to see what all the commotion was about. She didn't actually have to go outside, because right before she walked out there, she looked through the window on the door, to see Mack, holding the dog's toy just out of reach. She heaved another big sigh of releif as she hollared to everyone.

"Ike, Taylor, Zac, everyone! Come here!.. And hurry!"
