Crown Electric
Presents Rockabilly Opera
Rollin' & Tumblin' Records
The long-awaited first release
from Lexington's first family of rockabilly does not disappoint. The songs are all here,
the production's solid and the packaging is a hoot.
Singer/songwriter Mike
Tevis hiccups his way through 13 tracks of rockabilly heaven, while fret-man Bob Burris
slinks his way up and down the neck like a coked-up Scotty Moore. Frank Turner slaps his
hunk o' wood down on the bottom end, while Jon McGee keeps a lid on it all behind the
skins.
Highlights include the
uptempo Sweet Little Dee and Nocturnal Turnaround as well as Traindriver and the
super-cool title cut.
No duds here, just a straight shot of 100 proof rockabilly.
