I Couldn't Study

Firstly did you ever enjoy schoolwork?

Naill:
No. I felt the subjects we were taught were to old-fashioned, we needed to know more practical things. I did enjoy English, geography and art history though - if it caught my imagination, it was a doddle.

So, think back to about a month before your exams. Did you make a revision plan?

Naill:
Erm, no. I never did much revision, I was never one for theorems and whathaveya. If a subject didn't grab my attention while I was being taught it, I couldn't sit down and study, never mind revise!

Didn't your mom and dad make you revise?

Naill:
They tried, but my mam actually spent more time in my school then I did! I was quite a handful in those days and I had a problem with authority!

What sort of problem?

Naill:
I didn't get on with some teachers because I felt they didn't respect me and they lacked the ablility to control me. In return I thought they were eejits. I think you have to be a particular kind of person to be a good teacher, I guess some of my subjects suffered because my interest levels depended on who was teaching it. For example, I loved french but I couldn't be taught, and for the last year I taught myself!

Thanks Lisa.
