Why

I'm trying to talk
But you keep cutting me off.
I want you to listen
But you just tune me out.
I'm trying to tell you something important
But you don't seem to care.
I wish I knew if you were there,
But you're just too quiet to be there.

I could scream I love you,
And for once
Actually mean it.
And I could give you a kiss,
And yet
I don't think you'd feel it.

I've tried to act differently,
So you'd want me around;
And yet again,
You're nowhere to be found.
You've told me a secret,
Then made it into a joke.
You've shown me your pain,
And then laughed.

I wish I could understand you,
Or that you'd try to understand me.
Cuz I've shown you my pain,
And you've laughed.
And I've told you a secret
And you've joked.
Now I don't know if you care,
And even if you do,
You don't know how to show it,
In a way I want you to.
