2nd day

Oh man, that’s all there is to say, I have been here for almost 3 full days and it has run together into one.  Good news AND bad news, the good news is that everything is going okay.  The bad news is that there is SOOO much to do.  There is not a second in the day that you don’t feel the watchful eyes of the upperclassmen or the commissioned officers.  We (200 of us) have been so uptight that people have been dropping like flies.  4 or 5 OT’s have been sent to the hospital already, mainly due to dehydration (their own fault) or sickness.   It has the commanders very worried, they sat us down and talked to us today to calm us down.  It helped me and I think it helped everyone else also.  It’s amazing how much of a state of utter terror you can put yourself into.  You see it in my eyes as well as every other OT.  I think maybe it is unfounded, cause there isn’t a whole lot that will happen to you when you screw up, just some stern correction and feeling slightly stupid.

We had our first drill practice today from an Ex-TI from Lackland (Training Instructor), which is where the Basic training happens.  You can tell he could be a real loud stern kinda guy, but he was EXTREMELY cool with us.  He yells but it is only so OT’s can hear him.  He doesn’t accept baloney (no one here does) and he expects perfection, but he is also calm and controlled when explaining things.  Very cool guy, in my opinion.

Our FLC and AFLC are very cool guys and are doing a superb job.  I am scared of my FTO though, he seems to be a major stickler for details and I can see a lot of stress being created by him.  I am sure he will be fair however, I none the less, DO NOT want to get on his bad side, something ALL of us are sure to do.  If you come to OTS, you will be in trouble, for sure, no doubt, just expect it.  You’ll be fine if you just do what your told and act motivated.

Food, box lunches for most meals, and they are terrible.  I had “Mouseloaf” today, I think it was supposed to be Roast Beef? We have eaten in the Dining Hall twice, and the food is awesome, except your so hungry, you eat a ton, and then you feel like crap.  Also, you have to drink 4 glasses of water with EVERY  meal or Powerade, and let me tell you I got some Powerade today and it was awful, never again.

I am on my way to becoming an officer, it will definitely be the hardest thing I have ever done.  I don’t see this as being easy, in fact, if it goes much like it has in the past 2 days, I could see passing out from exhaustion.  It is very very INTENSE.   I am the computer Honcho for my flight, which is part of the reason I have been so busy.  Without my roommate hooking me upo with room stuff (chores), that he did for me, I would have already sunk, hands down, garunteed……….

Thank you OT Enfield.

I’ll write more when I have some time.  HA!
