Today is Sunday and it wasn’t really that bad, with the exception of the heat.  We marched in our BDU dress, which is the camouflage outfit with boots.  Normally it’s not too uncomfortable, but in Alabama, the humidity and heat make it very sweaty.  Therefore, the march to the BX to get various items was pretty miserable.  But hey, at least we weren’t in class with our FTO.  Let me tell you a little bit about Friday….

We had our FTO Welcome class.  This is the biggest misnomer in the world, because the last thing you feel after that class is,……welcome.  I wanted to pack up and leave.  The FTO is in charge of our flight and is a commissioned officer.  His/her job is to make you do everything right, therefore, he commands the utmost respect and discipline.  Oh man, did he.  He scared the crap out of me.  He walks in and proceeds to just rip apart our designated flight leader (poor guy), I mean he dogged him for about 6 minutes.  It isn’t yelling but it is far from quiet.  Then he proceeded to go around the room to each of us and rip us apart.  I was last so basically he just told me how much of a poor example of an Air Force Officer I was.  Everything out of our mouths are “Yes Sir, No Sir, I didn’t have time sir”, etc etc.  Well, I am the Computer Honcho for our flight so after we take our seats, all of a sudden he looks at me and screams, “YOU!! GET ON THE COMPUTER!!!!”, so I did and I proceed to run through his slides.  Oops, I went past the first one, so I start to go back to the beginning and he yells at me “USE PAGE UP, DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT COMPUTERS!!!!”.  Alright, I’m frazzled now.  So we are going through this “Welcome” HA!, and I miss another slide.  I don’t even want to talk about it (and its been 3 days).  Needless to say, I was belittle…..to the extreme.  Fair enough to say that I was certain that I couldn’t push the enter button again without screwing it up.  Well, after the class, we ALL were freaked out, and I can speak for myself, and probably the rest of the flight, we ALL wanted to go to bed for about 6 months.   It was a very hectic and stressful day.  So much so that some people in the “Class” (not my Flight) got sick, like bad sick, so stressed out that you puke and give yourself a temporary-flu-like-thingy.  Poor guys.

Busy doing stuff all day, there is hardly any free time at all.  Right now, I am going back to marking my clothes and shining my boots, which by the way, my FTO said were pathetic at our FTO Welcome.  …………………………“Thank you, sir”.

Goodnight.
