Steve Vai was born on June 6, 1960 at the Nassau County Hospitol in NY, to parents John and Theresa, the fourth of five childeren. He now lives in encino, CA with wife Pia (formerly Pia Maiocco, of Vixen fame), and childeren Julian and Fire.

At age 19, Steve landed a job with Frank Zappa, being the youngest musician ever to join his ranks. Together, they set a few records. In '81, Zappa's Holloween Show at the NY Palladium was the first live music video top be aired on television. And in '82, they became the first, and the last, band ever to preform a rock concert in Sicily.

Since leaving Zappa, Vai has led a stunning career, playing with the likes of David Lee Roth, Whitesnake, and Alcatraz. But this site will focus on what is perhaps the most impressive of all, his solo work!
