1.
Hello Brother! How's the weather surrounding MORCROF
right now?
PAULLUS: Hail Firdaus. Very good right
now.
2.
First of all, can you please tell me a little bit history
of your band and how you, Ludwick Schölzel and R'Bressan
came together? Have you face any big and serious problems
when you formed MORCROF? I've heard that your latest
drummer B.Gêne's Hajj-Ahriman has already been kicked
out from MORCROF. What's the reason you're kicked him out
from MORCROF and who handle the drums now? Anyway, please
tell me what is the meaning of MORCROF and do you thing
that this name really fit with the music that you play?
PAULLUS: Caecus Magice (our first guitar
member) and I formed that band at Dec'92, for search that
occult manifest about human existentialism, and that name
MORCROF came from Latin word MORCROFilis signifying all
type of unknown death, translating ours music and profane
ideologies. Ludwick Schölzel (my old friend) and
R'Bressan came from band at beginning 93 for they have
similar conception idealized in formation of Morcrof, and
because it we keeping united since that year until now,
but it isn't signify that we don't have others much
differences and personals polemic sight points for
discussion among us. We had some live shows and divulged
two tapes until now; the first was 'Demo Reh'94 (divulged
only at Brazil) and second DT'96 "Scientia Ab
Mortuus" for be divulged until December'98. We
suffered with various problems not only when Morcrof was
formed as also at actual days in our line up, bad
production in live concerts, money for sustain the band
and others more problems. B.Gêne's Hajj-Ahriman was one
biggest mistake to us... he is very good drummer, but he
is very voluble too. Really, B.Gêne's Hajj-Ahriman not
participated with Morcrof joining his philosophies with
the others members, don't serving to live together with
us. Today I support drums for record new sounds and we
searching new drummer for compose Morcrof future soon.
3.
MORCROF Debut demo entitled "Scientia Ab
Mortuus" is already out and it seems that this demo
is one of the best products that MORCROF have made
before. Are you really satisfied with this demo and can
you please reveal me the background of each of the song
in this demo and which song do you thing are the best?
Anyway, can you please tell me what is the meaning of
"Scientia Ab Mortuus" and who wrote all the
lyrics?
PAULLUS: Yes, we are satisfied with
"Scientia Ab Mortuus"; -(That tittle signify
"Knowledge of the Dead")- because that our
"first official" release had divulged in some
dark scenes around world with very good repercussion. The
each music registered on that tape come with accords and
themes irreligious, nihilistic and thought about human
existence. In the musical context, I thing that
"Buried Alive Existence" have more variations
of accords, with good work percussion and good blends
vocals, making this music the best of demo in my opinion.
Both music on tape was composed with one big lot of
unholy feeling... The lyrics are write by Ludwick
Schölzel and me... and B.Gêne's Hajj-Ahriman wrote
Buried Alive Existence and some others lyrics that will
be registered in next record... Nihilism (Prophect
Conjecture) is my lyric...
4.
Your music from "Scientia Ab Mortuus" is more
influenced to ROTTING CHRIST "Passage To
Acturo" and also have play their song entitled
"The Forest N'Gay" to be featured in your Debut
demo as a live cover track. Are you agree with me if I'm
saying that ROTTING CHRIST is one of your influence since
the beginning? List some other band that influences you a
lot and what was the reason you're took "The Forest
N'Gay" as a cover track? Tell me something about it.
PAULLUS: Really, ours influences is on
line of the principals (and the best) bands of decade 70,
80 and 90, including our influences of the Metal music
from Greece (RC for example), but, that influence don't
came from begin of Morcrof... The basic motive for we
played "The Forest N'Gay" are three: -First;
that music have very good keyboards and bass
instrumental; -Second, that music have one good lyric
theme (all relations with forest awakening our selves); -
and Third, we like very much of Rotting Christ in his
three first releases.
5.You
told me that MORCROF will enter a studio to record a new
song to be featured in your upcoming debut CD. Any title
have been set for it and how many song have been record
so far? You told me that a song called "The
Judgement Of Demigod" will be composed in 4 acts. I
can't understand what you mean with it and hope you can
tell to me more details about it. Which studio you will
choose to record the song and who is the sound engineer?
By the way, have you choose any label to release this CD?
PAULLUS: We already recorded all music
for out in our possible debut CD'99 that will can contain
nine hymns that we composed among years 95/98. That
stuffs will be called "Peragere Humum Et Semem
Terrai Abditae". About the music "The Judgement
Of Demigod", we composed in 4 parts making transform
that music in one big epopee; each act will have one
melody or different musical arrangement showing the
atmospheres of each verse of that music; in resume, we
composed 4 musical arrangement for one similar lyrics.
For record the ours music, we chose the
"Pró-Estudio" Studio with the engineer called
"Cássio" because they have very years of
experience on it. At moment, we wait only the final
mixed... All that release will be independent featured;
no label contract until now, because it I don't have
certainty if we get out in CD format or in other DT.
6.MORCROF
have played quite a lot live gigs by now, right? Tell me
a little bit experience you got by playing live on stage
and which is the best performance that MORCROF have made
so far? Any new tour will be set for MORCROF and how
about the fans? Are they really enjoy your live show?
PAULLUS: No, at this moment we can't
make live gigs because problem with our line up, but we
ever played in live concerts when everything is right in
Morcrof... To play at Brazil is one big defiance because
in there don't have support for goods equipment and
enough places for make underground live show... In most
live concert we ever suffered with some type of technical
problems. Among all gigs that we made, only one was total
perfect; it was when we played at Ibiúna town in
festival called "No Remorse Fest" at year'97.
That live show was the best! The Brazilian underground
black people very like to see Morcrof live performance
better than like to see also others bands that pertain to
extreme and occult rituals of Metal underground music
scene from there.
About new tour, we pretender make maybe 6 or 7 live
concert at year'99 hopeful already have new drummer for
divulge our new work.
7.
Nowadays, these are many bands emerged from Brazil such
as SONGE D'ENFER, SARGATANAS, MORCROF, PROFANE CREATION,
etc. So I would like to heard your opinion about your own
Metal scene and which bands do you thing are the best and
what differ MORCROF from other bands in Brazil? Have you
all know each other? Anyway, that has happen to SEPULTURA
after the departured of Max Cavalera?
PAULLUS: Really in Brazil have arisen
very good and unknown bands with real proposal of exclude
all Rip Off and posers that dirtying Brazilian scene,
being for Sepultura be first big shit among the Rip Off
that defected our scene. That crap band isn't appreciate
among truthful dark people from here. We hate Sepultura
by his betrayer to underground... maybe because them, we
don't have more one big Metal union had here at remote
time of meddle decade 80. About best bands; in there no
exist one "the best" band, besides of bands
mentioned for you, the Brazil have others more great
bands in my conception, I thing that all bands with real
proposal of the up Brazilian scene is great, and Morcrof
not differ of that all profanes bands that fight for
fortify our scene, but Morcrof differ of all bands that
composed by posers, Christians crap, children idiots, and
others more Rip Off infested around our own scene. Be
sincere with the ourselves philosophies is question of
honor for us, and for play Metal music have that do it.
8.
What do you know about Malaysia? Do you have any contact
with bands and zines from my country?
PAULLUS: I very wish in know more about
Malaysian Metal cult, because the scene of your country
is very unknown to me. You have presenting some diversity
flyers of bands/zines that I already know only by name,
but, unfortunately until now don't have any demo-tape
came from there... But, besides you, I have contact only
with the Mail-order Production by Abdul Aziz B. Jaafar,
and at September'97 I sent one copy of Morcrof's DT to
The Unholy Abyss Fanzine writing by Amir...
9.
Have you got any merchandise to offer? You told me that
MORCROF has already released a live Vide-Tape'97 that
containing 2 live concert of MORCROF in São Paulo. Tell
me more about that Video-Tape and how much it cost? Any
T-shirt will be release?
PAULLUS: We will divulged all
merchandise pertained at 96 - ( DT "Scientia Ab
Mortuus", release'96, lyrics, ...) - until
December'98, when we get new stuffs for distribute that
will be the new Tape, release'98, new flyers, photos...
About T-shirt, we made printed very little of it for
merchandise at 96, causing the total finish of T-shirt
lot... For our new release, is possible we make more some
T-shirt.
...the Morcrof VT'97 "Live In São Paulo"
contain some parts of the two live concert realized with
the old line up and also with some difference
arrangements of any music comparing it at actual days.
That gigs have all music of Scientia Ab Mortuus and more
most music that will pertain in our actual register,...
The first live show recorded in VT had name of "Cult
Of Erinnis Fest" when we played with more two bands
from São Paulo called "Ancestor" and
"Dies Irae", this festival was great, and, the
second live show recorded in VT had name of "Malefic
Cold Weather Underground Fest - III", when we played
with the band "Bestymator", "Osculum
Obcenum" and "Dies Irae"; that festival
isn't so good because the bad equipment.
10.
Please give a honest comment about this following bands:
(1) DARK FUNERAL (2) CRADLE OF FILTH (3) SATYRICON (4)
DARK TRANQUILLITY
PAULLUS: I don't like of the last
Satyricon CD...!!! But, they pertain to elite of Metal
scene, unfortunately today, his CD disappointed me.
Cradle Of Filth I never like, and, about Dark
Tranquillity and Dark Funeral I listed only first works
and been good works in my opinion. By the way, each band
make that think be right... After it, will have support
the good or bad consequences.
11.
Well Paullus, I thing the time has come for us to end
this great conversation. Any future plans have been made
for MORCROF and last words.
PAULLUS: I ever asked why we have that
live submissive in laws or in desires of gods, demons or
men, and, because it, I believe in opinion that liberty
in total plenitude isn't possible... We ever live
prisoner of anything, can't search or questioner nothing
about the life, and, if you ask it, you is living in
blasphemies, heresies, profanation... Maybe it caused by
basic philosophies and human traditional education
transmitted of each submitted generation, and, that
tradition tell us for accept the orders made for others
mans in name of anyone hierarchy...The Morcrof is our
shout of freedom to all imposed created by men and/or
gods (if exist it)... this is the my self liberty, and
liberty to me signify not be submitted for nobody, but
only be prisoner for yourself philosophies, forming the
his individual world. All members of Morcrof is also free
for dissection in more deep thought and believer about
human existentialism. The Morcrof was formed just it, for
in rebel, blasphemies, heresies, and independent
ideologies.
Our principal objective now is finish the mixed of CD,
divulge the Advance-Tape'98, and compose the Morcrof with
new drummer for make live concert. Very tanks to you by
place in your Zine, this keep burning the flames of true
Metal ever up. Hail!
