In a small cafe in LA, Sidney was sitting and talking with an old friend.
"So where's Colin and Chloe?"
"Oh I left them with Chris."
"Poor Chris, he's going to have his hands full!"
"Nah, he's a big kid himself and that is what worries me!"
"Where are my pictures of them?"
"I almost forgot, here you go."
"Oh, they're beautiful Resa!"
"Yeah, and they miss their auntie Sid."
"I know, I miss them too."
Sidney took a sip of her latte and stared out the window. Theresa had been a friend of hers for a long time and Sidney was the godmother of her twins Colin and Chloe. Theresa had been married to Chris for a while now and Sidney was even her maid of honor at their wedding. The twins had just celebrated their fifth birthday that past week while Sidney was in Paris. She had missed a lot of their lives and her only memories were the pictures of them.
"Sid?"
"Oh sorry."
"What were you thinking about?"
"Just about how lucky you are."
"Why?"
"You have the perfect life." "But you have a great life, Sid. You get to travel all over the world, meet a variety of new people, and you don't have anything to hold you back."
"Don't get me wrong, I love my life it's just that money and fame aren't everything."
"I thought that's what you wanted."
"It was at first but sometimes I wish I could just have a normal life, a normal job, a family...love."
"Is that what this is all about?"
Sidney looked down into her latte.
"Sid, you are a great, beautiful and successful woman, you can get any guy you want."
"But I don't want any guy, I just want the right guy."
Sidney finished off her coffee and said good-bye to Theresa. She loved Theresa like a sister but she often envied her. Everything Theresa had is all that Sidney wanted and it killed her inside.
*Ring* *Ring*
"Hello?"
"Sid, it's Rob."
"Oh hey Rob! Sorry about dinner."
"That's okay, you need to concentrate on tonight."
"Don't worry about that, this show has been on my mind for months."
"Look, don't stress yourself out."
"I know, I won't."
"Good, anyway have you spoken to Michelle?"
"Damn, I forgot."
"It's alright, I think she's already on her way to the garden."
Since LA was having such nicer weather than usual, which is almost impossible, Sidney decided to have the show outside at a botanical garden. The spot was perfect for the show. The flowers were in full bloom and would go perfectly with Sidney's summer collection. Michelle Jackson was a good friend of Sidney's as well as a coworker. She was a fashion photographer, one of the best, for several popular magazines and she was going to shoot the show.
"Good, I'm on my way there now."
"Okay, then I'll see you later on."
"Alright, bye Rob."
"Bye."
Sidney hung up her cell and it instantly rang again.
"Hello?"
"Hey Sid, it's Lexi."
"Lexi, where are you?"
"I'm at the studio, the wardrobe guys are idiots! They've lost one of my outfits."
Alexis Murray was a popular, young model who had a contract with SDS. Sidney also considered her one of her closet friends. Unlike the stereotypical model, Alexis was very intelligent and hoped to go to law school one day. But for now she was having too much fun.
"What else can go wrong?"
"So what am I supposed to do?"
"Where's Jilly?"
"She's gone over to the garden because the set designer seemed to be having some problems."
"Well, I was just on my way over there so I'll go to the garden and tell Jilly to go back to the studio to help you and the others, how's that?"
"That's fine...you sound horrible by the way."
"Thanks Lexi."
"Oh guess what I found out?"
"What?"
"Justin Timberlake is going to be at the show!"
"Who?"
"Damn Sid, are you that oblivious? He's just the hottest actor on earth."
"Sorry if I'm more concerned that Armani and Donatella are going to be there and not some teen heartthrob."
"Whatever Sid, we'll see."
"Yeah ok, I have to go so I'll see you in a few hours."
"Okay, bye."
"Bye."
About 25 minutes later, Sid arrived at the garden. She parked her car and walked to the area that was being set up for the show. The area looked like a mad house. There were techs setting up lights everywhere since the show would be at night. She saw Jilly talking with some guy off to one side.
"Jilly."
"Miss Shago, I didn't know you were coming."
"Neither did I until a short while ago."
"This is Hank, the set designer."
"Yes, we talked before but listen Jilly, I need you to go back to the studio; my models are having a few difficulties."
"Okay, I'll leave now."
"Oh Jilly, is Michelle here yet?"
"Um, yes she's right over there."
Jilly pointed toward the center of the area where the runway would be. Sidney looked over and saw Michelle messing with one of her cameras. Michelle was always considered to be too pretty to be behind the camera. She was about 5' 4, brown eyes, blonde hair, and was really friendly and kind.
"Michelle!"
"Hey Sid, when did you get here?"
"A little while ago."
"So is everything all set?"
"Yeah, just a few minor problems but nothing to worry about. What about your end?"
"Everything's good. I've already talked to the light tech and we've set up the perfect placing for the lights where we'll get great shots."
"Great! Rob's been bugging me."
"Yeah that's Rob."
"Anyway, how's Mr. Wonderful?"
"You mean Mr. Asshole."
"I'm guessing you're not seeing Aaron anymore, huh?"
"He was too immature for me...you might like him though!"
"Shut up!"
"Seriously, it's about time you get out there and date. Your business can survive without you for one night."
"My job isn't the problem Michelle, I just haven't found a guy I've clicked with yet."
"Miss Shago?"
"I'll be right there. Okay Michelle, I'll see you tonight."
"Yeah, bye Sid."
"Bye."
Sidney walked over to the set designer. She stayed at the garden for another 3 hours. She finally decided to go back to the studio. There was only a couple of hours to the show and still a lot that needed to be done.
