Everyone waited for the doctor's words. Sidney held her
breath as she realized that what the doctor said could
change her life forever.
"We were unsure about Miss Jackson's condition before," the doctor began, "but her vital signs are up and we're confident that she'll be just fine."
Sidney released the air from her lungs along with tears of joy. Justin pulled her to him as she cried into his chest. Alexis went over and hugged Sidney and shared tears. JC sat back down and put his head in his hands. It felt like a huge weight was lifted off of him and things were really going to be alright this time around.
"You can see her now if you'd like. She's hasn't waken up yet but we have her on some drugs so she'll be a little woozy for awhile."
"Thank you so much," Sidney said hugging the doctor.
"You're welcome." The doctor left and the 4 of them were left in the waiting room.
"I'm going to see if I can get a hold of her parents to tell them the good news," Sidney said walking out.
Justin went and sat next to JC. "You okay man?"
"I thought I was going to re-live a nightmare."
"But you're not. Ty's okay and Michelle is going to get better."
"I don't think I could've handled it J, if they didn't make it..."
"But they did and that's all that matters, right?"
"Yeah, you're right." JC attempted to smile. He had a lot to be thankful for because he knew how easily things could've gone the other way.
Alexis walked out into the hallway to find Sidney. She saw her down the hall just putting away her cell phone. "Did you get a hold of them?" Alexis asked walking up to her.
"Yeah, they said they're flight leaves this evening so they should be here some time tonight."
"That's good." Alexis looked at Sidney and could tell that she was going through a lot of stress. "Maybe you should go get some rest Sid, you look tired."
"I'm fine. I need to stay here until Michelle's parents get here."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, but you should go."
"No way, I'm definitely staying for Michelle and for you."
"Thanks Lexi."
"What're friends for, girl?"
Sidney smiled as Alexis hugged her. "What do you say we go get everybody something to eat. I know JC probably hasn't eaten in over 24 hours," Sidney suggested.
"That's a good idea, let's go."
"Okay, let me go tell Justin." As Sidney was walking back to the waiting room, she heard her cell ring. "Hello?"
"Sid, it's me."
" Alex?"
"Yeah, where have you been, I thought we were meeting for lunch."
"Oh, I forgot but an emergency came up. I'm sorry."
"It's okay but is everything alright now?"
"Yeah, thankfully, but I am really sorry."
"Don't worry about it Sid. We can get together later."
"Do you know yet how long you'll be in LA?"
"Yeah, another 2 weeks then they're sending me to Paris then to New York where I'll be for awhile."
"You're only here for 2 weeks?"
"Yeah. You seem surprised."
"Well, I thought we'd have more time to catch up, that's all."
"Alot can happen in 2 weeks Sid."
Alexis tapped Sidney on her shoulder and mouthed for her to hurry up. "Um, I have to go Alex."
"Okay, I'll talk to you later on."
"Alright, bye."
"Bye Sid."
Sidney put her cell phone away. "Now that wouldn't be THE Alex, now would it?" Alexis asked crossing her arms.
"Yes, that was Alex."
"He's back in town? Why didn't you tell me?"
"It slipped my mind."
"Does Justin know?"
"NO, and I want to keep it that way. There's no use in stirring things up."
"Watch yourself Sid, you can get yourelf in a big mess over this."
"I know but I'm being careful. I'm not going to foul it up again."
"Foul what up?"
Sidney and Alexis turned to see Justin and JC walking up. "Oh, hey baby. It's nothing," Sidney said.
Justin could tell she wasn't telling him everything but decided not to press her for info.
"Sid and I were going to bring some food back, okay?" Alexis said.
"Alright, JC and I are going to see Ty and Michelle."
"Okay, we'll be back soon." Sidney leaned up and kissed Justin. He patted her butt as she walked away. She turned around and smiled. She hated lying to Justin about Alex but she knew that would only complicate things between them. But complications were already on the horizon for all of them.
