Part Two

Several days had passed and Nadja still hadn’t adjusted to being away. She had talked to Justin a few times and it helped at the moment but soon, her sadness settled back in. She hated feeling so down. Germany was so beautiful and had so much to offer but she couldn’t embrace it like she wanted to.

She was on her way to one of her professor’s office. He said he needed to talk to her about her work. Nadja took a deep breath as she knocked on his door.

“Come in.”

Nadja slowly opened the door.

“Hello Nadja.”

“Hello Prof. Hiedleburg.” Nadja sat down in the chair in front of his desk.

“Nadja, I asked you hear because I have some concerns about your work.”

“I know…”

“I’ve read the amazing recommendations from your professors in America but I find your writing lacking some.”

Nadja hung her head some. She was a terrific writer who was praised all the time and this was the first time she was being told that her work wasn’t up to caliber.

“I’m sorry, I’m not adjusting well here but I can do better Prof. I just need to get focused.”

“That’s what I assumed so because I know you can do better, I’ll give you a second chance to re-write this paper but I expect much better.”

“Oh it will be, thank you sir.”

“And relax Nadja. Take a walk, find your inspiration again.”

“I’ll do that sir.”

Nadja said good-bye to her professor and went back to the villa. As she was walking up to her room, she was stopped by the keeper of the Villa.

“Nadja.”

“Oh hi Mrs. Schikle.”

“A young man stopped by and delivered this message for you.” She handed Nadja an envelope.

“Thank you.”

Nadja continued walking to her room. As Nadja walked, she tore open the envelope and pulled out the letter. She began to read the letter, wondering whom it could be from.

Nadja-
Since the last time we talked, I've only thought about how sad you sounded. Now that's not the girl I know and love, so I know something's wrong. I know it was me who was the main motivator for you going to Germany and I feel like I'm to blame for your sadness. But, on the other hand, I still think you could get a lot out of your trip and be the better because of it. I know these are just words on a piece of paper, but I promise you that by the time this day is over, you will have your spark again.
Love always,
Justin

You’ve got a way with words
You get me smiling even when it hurts
There’s no way to measure what your love is worth
I can’t believe the way you get through to me

Nadja almost dropped the letter when she read whom it was from. She smiled knowing that Justin cared enough to write, considering he hated it. She reached her door and went into her room. As soon as she opened the door, she dropped her book bag and stood in shock.

"Justin!?" Nadja looked at the curly head guy sitting on the edge of her bed.

"I was wondering when you'd get here!" he said standing up. He walked over to her and pulled her to him. It took a moment for it to all sink in that he was actually there, but when it did Nadja held him tighter.

"How…I mean when did you get here?"

"I arrived early this morning. I wanted to surprise you."

"Well, you do a helluva job!"

Justin laughed and gently kissed her. Nadja cupped his face in her hands, savoring the feel of his soft lips against hers. Nadja began leading Justin over to her bed and pulled him down with her. He slid his hands up and down her thigh as she ran her fingers through his hair. He looked into her eyes and she could see nothing but love in them.

"Why are you so good to me?" she asked.

"Hmm…let me think about that one."

"Shut up!" Nadja said, playfully slapping him.

"Okay, okay…I love you Nadja and I'll never stop."

"I love you too."

Nadja kissed him again until Justin stopped and got up. “Where are you going?”

“C’mon, I have something to show you.”

She smiled and grabbed her jacket. Justin took her hand and led her out of the villa and up a nearby hill. They seemed to be walking for a while until there were no signs of civilization.

“Justin, where are we?”

“Just wait, we’re almost there.”

About 5 minutes later, Justin stopped walking and turned to Nadja; he had a slight smile on his face.

“Okay, now close your eyes.”

Nadja raised an eyebrow but did as he said. He took her hand and led her a little more ways.

“Alright, open them!”

Nadja opened her eyes and her breath was caught. They were on top of a hill that overlooked a valley of matching beautiful rolling hills. The view was clear and peaceful. For the first time since she had arrived, Nadja took in all of the beauty around her; the chirping of the birds; the fresh pine smell; and the soft feel of the gentle gusts of wind.

“God Justin, it’s so wonderful.”

“I knew you’d like it.”

“I can’t believe I couldn’t see all of this before but I should’ve known you would be the one to open my eyes.” Nadja leaned up and gently pressed her lips to Justin’s.

“I got Johnny to give me some time off from our schedule so I can stay here with you for awhile.”

“Justin, you didn’t have to do that…but I can’t say I’m not grateful you did!”

Justin took both of Nadja’s hands in his and looked deep in her eyes. She felt her heart skip a beat, just looking into his sparkling blue eyes; they were a sea of emotion, filled with the love they shared.

“Nadja, you’re a smart, beautiful, and kind person…I mean you’re so great that they sent you to Germany for school. Sometimes…I just wonder how I ever managed to have you.”

Nadja reached up and gently caressed the side of Justin’s face. “No Justin…believe me when I say that I’m happy you felt I deserved you.”

Oh, how I adore you
Like no one before you
I love you just the way you are
It’s just the way you are
