Here are several reasons I believe there are problems at target Txxx.

One of the things you are told when you start is that target is "fast, fun,
friendly, and flexible." is this true? No.

After you are hired, if for some reason or another you have to change your
scheduling, there big problems!

They expect you to be available to work until all hours of the night, ad they
donšt care. They donšt even care if you do not have a car and have to ride the
bus or public transportation to work, they still expect you to stay until they
feel its time to go home...

Think what this does for moral in a store. Is target really fast, fun friendly, and flexible??

Team Members overworked and Underpaid.

As a closing sales floor team member you are expected to do many things.

Not only are you expected to zone one department but allot of the time you
are expected to zone two, three, four, or even more departments.. And this
is while they still expect you to respond as a back up cashier at the front
lanes. Help guests on the sales floor, answer there questions, or whatever
they need..

Allot of the time you even end up missing breaks and lunches or getting
them extremely late.

Now for the underpaid part, oh yes, after all they expect from you what
does target pay?? Minimum wage or at most .25 cents over minimum wage.
And you may wonder about raises. they certainly must compensate you for
your hard work? sure once a year and then the raises are about .30 cents.

Training of new team members and new team leads.

Training has also got very bad. Used to be that a new team member went
through extensive CD-ROM training on a computer about everything they
might end up working at the store, and then when done with that they did it
hands on with another experienced team member until they understood and
had everything down.

Does that happen still? No.

New team members do little CD-ROM training, allot of the times they are not
even cashier trained, they just have them do basic sales floor training and
dump them on the floor and expect them to do it. So itšs not uncommon for a
new team member to ask around to thers allot of questions, which we
understand why and try and help as much as we all can. But still they end
up missing allot of valuable training they should have received.

New team leads also are not adequately being trained to do the jobs they
were promoted to do, in fact many times they are not even familiar with the
position that they were promoted into. why you might ask?

Well the answer is simple, promotion here is a popularity contest, its not
how well you know ad do a job, its how well you know and get long with the
executives. Put simply the management is corrupt.

Since these new team leaders are not being adequately trained they are not
doing there jobs efficiently and therefore end up being a burden on the
other team members they are suppose to be leading, and most of the time
these peoplešs heads get so big because of there new position that they will
not listen to anyone to even learn what they should be doing.

Recovery Team Leads

There is a position at the store I work at called a recovery team lead.
This person basically just sorts stray items and returns that are in the store
and gives them to the different departments to stock where they belong.

This is a great idea you might think, right? well someone also came up with
the bright idea of having a big cart if you will with different baskets in it
that were for different departments so that everything would be on this big
cart and it could just be pushed around to the different departments and
stock them..

So you would think, that should be the job of this recovery team lead now,
right? Nope.
The recovery team lead just sorts the stuff out and puts it in the big cart,
which they call the "train" and then tells someone else to push the train
around and put the returns away. Now tell me is this a wasted level 3 team
lead position or what???!

So in other words...

Basically what this all means is that while target may be a cool place to shop
and check out, its a REALLY crappy place to work, so the next time your in a
target store, be a little nicer to the employees on the sales floor. they are
used, abused and get crap for pay.
