This is about what happened to me on christmas eve 1998..
On christmas eve 1998 I was working at target, since it was the day before christmas the
store closed at 6pm instead of 10pm.
I was scheduled untill 8pm that day, which was fine, my wife and mother were supose to
pick me up after work, so it was not a problem..
I worked the whole day, untill after close, and we got everything all zoned/cleaned up on
the hardlines side of the store which is where I worked and it was 8pm, so I went up to the
front of the store and told the team leader on duty that night (which happened to be the store
manager) that I was done with my section of the store, it was 8pm which was when I was
scheduled off and that I was just going to clock out so I could leave.
What the store manager said was that I better go and help the people in softlines, and that I
could leave when he said I could leave. I said, no, I dont think so, I am scheduled to be
off at 8pm, it was like 8:05, and I was going to go clock out so I could leave, I didnt want
to be there after I was scheduled. he told me that if I went and clocked out that he would
suspend me, and terminate my employment with target right then and there.
So what else could I do, I needed the job because it was the only source of income I had. I
didnt have another job to support myself and my family, so I went and helped them inb
softlines against my will, and after I was scheduled.
The stupid thing is that when I went over there the manager over there said that they didnt
need help, that they were done and we ended up leaving like 3-4 minutes later anyways.
But the point is the store manager threatened to fire me because I didnt want to stay longer
than my scheduled time.
