Come gruppo gli Erasure non hanno una genesi molto affascinante. Il duo nasce nel 1985, quando l'ex-Yazoo ed ex-Depeche Mode Vince Clarke pubblica su un giornale inglese un annuncio per trovare un cantante. La risposta più convincente arriva da Andy Bell, che si rivela un partner azzeccatissimo non solo per il ruolo, ma anche per la presenza scenica, che giocherà un ruolo decisivo nella fortuna della nuova formazione.
Da quel momento gli Erasure cominciano a macinare musica. Dopo un avvio in sordina (Wonderland, 1986), il botto arriva con il singolo Sometimes, chiamato a precedere il secondo album The Circus (1987). Da allora il duo è sempre rimasto ai piani alti delle classifiche, soprattutto in Gran Bretagna.
Per la loro discografia e la loro carriera, che ha valicato senza problemi la fine dei fatidici ottanta, rinvio al loro sito ufficiale. Mi interessa piuttosto riproporre un piccolo assaggio del loro personalissimo pop, synth e caldo e allo stesso tempo...
