Living In A Box


Che faticaccia, ragazzi! Non per nulla lo Speciale Trash 80 preparato da TheMusicNet inserisce i Living In A Box nella sezione meteore. Il giudizio, peraltro,  non sembra molto positivo: "Algidi inglesi, usciti dalla scatola con i loro suoni a metà strada tra la dance-music ed un pop quasi industriale, a momenti inorecchiabile. Il successo segna il passaggio dalla facilità del pop epico alla futuribilità della tecnicizzazione dello stesso". Ovviamente non sono d'accordo, principalmente perché non capisco cosa sia il pop epico...
In ogni caso restiamo ai fatti: dei Living In A Box la Storia ha fatto tabula rasa. Peccato, perché il singolo omonimo, Living In A Box (1987), a suo tempo fu un grande successo, degno della nostra memoria.
Recentemente è stato pubblicato da Spl 80 un loro profilo, che riporto integralmente:

 
Parlare di pop britannico negli anni '80 vuol dire spesso parlare di gruppi che hanno avuto vita breve ma che comunque sono riusciti ad imporsi e lasciare nel ricordo di tutti bellissime canzoni. Un caso di questi é costituito dalla band dei "Living In A Box" che ha al suo attivo due album: l'omonimo "Living In A Box" del 1987 e "Gatecrashing" del 1989. In entrambi gli album si ricordano delle hits più che interessanti: nel primo é contenuto l'hit omonimo (Living In A Box) che ha dato notorietà al gruppo e poi la bellissima "So The Story Goes"; nel secondo album, in stile più rock, ricordiamo l'energica "Blow The House Down" e "Gatecrashing". Nello stesso album é contenuta anche "Different Air", brano ripreso nel 1998 da Mike Francis, artista che da anni ha avviato una collaborazione con l'ex leader dei Living In A Box.
