REM - 05/12/01
Roncalliplatz
Cologne, Germany
dv(m)>dvdr(1)
Length - 2:08:40 two disc

The soundcheck and actual show from later in the
day are each on seperate discs. The soundcheck is
37:33 long and the show is 1:31:07. Audio for the
show is taken from an FM broadcast and is very
good, though its mpeg compressed and is very
noticable if you're listening for it. The video
is nice, but gets pixely/blocky looking at times
on very bright colorful areas (which ends up
mostly being the band when the stage lights are
on), though it still looks good regardless.
The soundcheck audio is taken from the video and
is decent, not as good as the FM from the show.
Michael Stipe shows up late to the soundcheck,
so some other guy in the band sings the first
two songs. Both discs have short video menus
with song selection.
****************
It was shot widescreen, but the person that
authored (and taped) it couldn't get it to look
good 16:9 and decided to leave it as a 4:3
letterboxed video, it makes no difference on a
regular (square) tv other than the black bars at
the top and bottom, but on a widescreen TV you
have to either zoom or watch it 4:3 for it to
play without the screen stretched.
****************
This is a PAL disc, it may not play correctly on
North American standalone players.
