The Iron Savior History

Piet Sielck, a renowned producer and engineer, who has already worked with big shots like Blind Guardian, Gamma Ray, Saxon, Grave Digger and Uriah Heep, was able to fulfill one of his dreams by founding a band of his own: Iron Savior.
None less than Kai Hansen (guitar) of Gamma Ray and Thomen Stauch (drums) of Blind Guardian assisted him. It did not take long and the debut album was produced and sold in 1997 under the band's name "Iron Savior" and was soon got highly acclaimed by critics and fans alike.

In the same year Iron Savior was invited to play the Wacken Open Air which actually was the band's very first live concert, with Jan-S. Eckert (bass) and Andreas Kück (keyboards) completing the band. But before he could start writing songs for the second album, Piet was to produce Blind Guardian first in their studio in Krefeld, then in Flemming Rassmussen's Kopenhagen based Sweet Silence studio.

He had just returned to Germany when the rehearsals for the "Atlantis Falling" tour began, unfortunately without Thomen Stauch, who had to leave the band due to lack of time. Dan Zimmermann of Gamma Ray on drums replaced him. After 16 shows with more than 5000 people, the band was finally able to go to the Karo Studios in Hamburg and start producing the recordings of drum and bass. They completed the recordings in Piet's Powerhouse Studio.

The beginning of '99 saw the release of "Unification", the band's second studio album, which is packed with Power Metal songs like 'Coming Home', 'Forces Of Rage', 'Atlantis Falling' in a live version plus a cover version of 'The Rage' by Judas Priest. Masterly song writing as well as a tonne of power are the remarkable features of this album.

"Unification" entered the official German media control charts at # 79. That year Iron Savior also went on a very successful tour supporting Grave Digger. And in March 2000 they supported Running Wild on their tour through Germany.

Now the Iron Savior's new album is to be released - a pure Heavy Metal production that develops the science fiction story and has been introduced by the CD single "I've Been To Hell" in October 2000.

"Dark Assault" is the title of the band's third studio album that will be released on January 8th, 2001 containing 60 minutes total playing time, eleven songs plus a cover song (Judas Priest again). 'Piesel' aka Joachim Küstner is new in the band. He is a longtime companion, guitar technician, sound engineer and tour assistant to Iron Savior and Gamma Ray. He plays the second lead guitar with Iron Savior as Kai Hansen often is on tour with his band Gamma Ray or in the studio. Therefore 'Piesel' was first and best choice for Piet. Besides that 'Piesel' also plays guitar for Lacrimosa. The album contains mid-tempo neckbreakers, catchy Power Metal hymns as well as profound and classy ballads. Not only does Kai Hansen lend his voice to some of the songs; also Jan-Sören Eckert (bass) joins Piet in the midtempo songs thus making the album surprisingly versatile. So this album is the band's most varied, and also reveals very complex song writing. Again the science fiction metal musicians have excelled themselves with another Iron Savior story. A species nourishes itself by exploiting and destroying the planets in its dimension ... when nearly every planet has been destroyed, this species invents a technology in order to travel into other dimensions in the galaxy. In search of new hunting grounds the species finds itself in the hemisphere of man and starts intruding our world, but the long lost Iron Savior shows up in the very last minute in order to save the world.
