OASIS LIVE IN COPENHAGEN SEPTEMBER 10TH 1997 REVIEW

 

After Ocean Colour Scene (very good !) left the stage at 20:34 everybody were excited about what was going to happen. And at exactly 21:00 the light was switched off and through the door of the oversized english telephone box came the fab 5 with Liam in front. Then quickly began the intro for "Be here now" and the crowd were mad for it. The sound was too muddy (and loud) through the first 3 songs but that couldn´t ruin a special evening.

The second song was "Stay young" , a classic song and one of my favorites.

Then they went into "Stand by me" , which on the album is electric but not as electric as the version the guys went into this night. I thought the song drowned a little in all the distortion.

But "Supersonic" made the crowd go absolutely crazy. I´ll stop now with using the word , classic !

And the hits were just coming and coming. "Some might say" and "Roll with it" followed and what can you say about these 2 songs ?

Absolutely brilliant !!

"D´you know what I mean?" was the next one blasting out of the speakers and the chorus just goes hand in hand with a crowd of 10.000 knowing the words. Yummi !!

Then Noel took center stage with "Magic pie" and Don´t look back in anger". I´m loving "Magic pie" more and more. It took 3 listenings but now the song is stuck in my mind. And DLBIA is one of the top 5 songs of the century !

Then Oasis went into an electric version of "wonderwall". There were no acoustic guitars this evening. I must admit that I like the slower acoustic version but just hearing the song live is a blast.

"This one´s for Princess Diana , Live forever yeah " Liam said and the crowd went mad. This is the song that got me into Oasis forever. The best Noel´s ever written ?

Then it was time for "It´s getting better (man!!)". A really good rock song with a typical catchy chorus. ROCK !!

The set ended with "Champagne supernova". The lightshow was incredible in this song creating a fantastic atmosphere. That song is also not from this earth.

Then they said goodbye and went off stage.

But soon they came back and went into a live version of "Fade in-out". The intro was elctric and way different from the version on the album. Really good song.

Then came the heavyweight of a song : "All around the world". Noel must have had a vision before writing this song. How did he do that ??

It´s unbeliveble !!

After another short break , Oasis ended the show with "Aquiesce". I thought it was a terrific idea to end the show with that song. Just a B-side but the chorus alone makes it a song never to be forgotten. A band could make a career out of a song like that. "See you soon" , Noel said before leaving the stage. Well we´ll take you on the word on that one Noel !!
