This Atlanta bases quintet has become one of the rising stars in late 90s heavy metal. From being unknown playing around the Atlanta music scene in different types of hard bands like punk, hardcore, and industrial are now playing to crowds of all sizes. These boys have come a long way in a somewhat short period of time. Their debut self-titled album hit stores in April '97 and it immediately shook the airwaves. The album was the number one most added across the board and spent 12 weeks at the number one position on Heavy Rock/Metal radio. The album contains some potentially controversial themes like racism and rape and then you can also here some genuine soulful moments. Sevendust first appeared in 1995 as CrawlSpace, but had to change that name because some band in LA had already owned it. They did however record one song under that name. It was "My Ruin"for the Mortal Kombat: More Kombat soundtrack. It also appears on the self-titled.

In June of 1997 the band landed a spot on second stage on the R.O.A.R. tour with Iggy Pop and then were bumped up to mainstage when promoters realized that they were the most explosive act in the line-up. They then went out on a small venues tour to get in touch with their fans. In 1998 Sevendust kept touring. They went out on tour with Monster Magnet and Megadeth and then landed a spot on the mainstage at 1998's OzzFest tour. After more than 18 months on the road touring, Sevendust took a short break before going out on a headlining tour of their own. Between all that they also contributed the song "Breathe" to Dee Sniders Strangeland soundtrack. Now the guys are done touring and are heading back into the studio to begin work on their second album.
