                  INTRODUCTION TO THE ATHENS CITY HARDCORE

Athens city Hardcore - Punk scene starts back in the early 80's.
Bands like "Genia tou haous" (= Generation of chaos) , Stress ,X-Humans (members of them nowadays play in a new
hardcore band named Velocity) established the Greek Punk and Hardcore scene .The first H.C - Punk  LP was released in 1983,
it was a compilation called "Diataraxi Kinis isihias" featuring the above mention bands, as also the bands  Grover, Adiexodo (=deadend) and Panx Romana .Until the end of the '80's more albums were released and the number of the bands had increased .
The lyrics of the bands in the '80's  were mainly in Greek (bands like Naftia , Chaotiko telos ,Negative stance ) but this is something that got changed in the '90's . New bands (Crime scene , New Jack) that were mainly influenced by the U.S.A Hardcore scene started singing in english .
 '90's Greek Hardcore music is marked by New Jack an Athens' band that have influenced  a great part of now days
bands.Unfortunately New Jack have split before releasing anything.
 Hardcore and Punk bands in Greece have to face many problems.Problems like the unknowledgement of the world
about the Greek music scene, the unconcern of greek "alternative" record labels for the Hardcore / Punk scene and the
lack of clubs or other places where bands can perform live have keep the scene behind .
These difficulties not only couldn't make the scene die but made it stronger  than before with maybe few , but true fans
with a sense of  what really underground means.Bands try to approach a personal style each in a way that the Athens' scene
will have something different to give than the American and the European scene
