The Tea Party
Festival Hall, Brisbane, Friday 22 October 1999
by Rachel
Being a dedicated Tea
Party fan, I have to say this concert was very spiritual in comparison
to their previous concerts that I've had the pleasure to be at.
I was disappointed that it didn't rock as they normally do but this
could also have something to do with the crowd as it seemed that
everyone was just standing back absorbing the atmosphere. They played
songs from all of their albums and a couple of my favourites, one
off their new album, Triptych, 'Heaven Coming Down' and one off
their 2nd album, Edges of Twilight, 'Turn The Lamp Down Low' were
just delightful but to my dismay, they didn't play 'The River' which
normally brings the house down. Jeff Martin was in fine form but
didn't play a majority of the instruments he normally does. I was
quite surprised when he did a rendition of 'Hallelujah', it was
like a tribute to Jeff Buckley, it was really beautiful and I think
majority of the crowd really appreciated it. Overall, the concert
was great (how can a Tea Party concert not be) but I wished that
they came out for a 2nd encore. I would have loved to made to their
Nambour gig as I heard that this one did rock!
