SILVERCHAIR, GRINSPOON & JEBEDIAH
Townsville Entertainment Centre, QLD
1st December 1999

I live in a little country
town called Ingham. The last big gig we had was Casey Chambers
so the live scene here is prettye crap. So when I heard that Grinspoon,
Jebidiah and silverchair were playing in Townsville(about an hours
drive away) I was stoked. Luckily, some brillent kid from skool
had organised a 57 seater coach to go down so travel was not a
problem. I am only 14 so my mum said I could go as long as I got
seat tickets, AAGGH!! So we got there after a trip that seemed
to take forever and this was it. First up was Jebidiah. They played
a really cool set and Kevin sung a bit of Chunky Chunk air Guitar
during Teflon. I had to luagh but when I heard some teeny bopper
behind me say, "the bassist is really hot" to which I said, "what,
Venessa" By now Me and my mates, were really pissed off from sitting
in seats, so after the Jebs, we decided to sneak into the mosh.
We just walked in.
Next was Grinspoon,
the band that I most wanted to see, they were ecellent, playing
a lot of their Easy stuff but a few old faverites to. Being a
virgin in the mosh, I found it pretty good, very hot and sweaty
but it beat the shit out of sitting down.
After that, we were
confused to here the fire alarm go off, at first we thought it
was a joke but we had to go outside until the fire trucks came.
It was apparently caused by what Daniel Johns said was Grinspoon
smoking illegal drugs, but it was just some kid messing around.
When we came back in,
the stage was all set up with lights and disco balls, and then
silverchair came on. I'm not really a fan of the chair but they
played a lot of their old stuff which was good. silverchair came
back for an encore but then it was over.
Another hour on the
bus and then we were home. Being my first concert, I thought it
was great and I hope we get another band to Townsville soon. If
you want to email me, if you were at the concert or whatever,
do so at suzymilan@hotmail.com.au.
