AREA 7 & SKULKER
Greenhouse Tavern, Coffs Harbour, NSW
28 June 2000
by Sharn

Three words sum up this night... SKank, sureal and skank.

We got there at a bit before 5 and had to get our tickets from the bottlo! It was freaky, but anyway we got our tickets and we were in for the ride of our short but excruisiating lives!

First band was Diviend eye. A local coffs band i believe who are really korn, limp bizkit wannabes. The crowd wasnt really into this band which i guess was a bit of a dissapointment. The vox proudly admitted that he lost his throat during one of the songs. Which wasnt really a surprise and none of us could tell anyway, coz it was hard to distinguish what was singing and what was screaming.

After they had finished there set (finally), SKULKER set up and came on. CHICK ROCK. It was great with most of the people who were dancing being females, they really related to the crowd with there sad tales of being "too fat for tahiti" and other female problems.

They played all there JJJ worn out songs like Hej, strawberry deluexe, and new song naughty. It was awesome. They are really small to u just wanna hug em!

Skulker were done and after all signages had been done, the main event, the reason why i went, AREA 7. With there light and sounds spectacular they were on the stage and into there first song NO LOGIC after the crowd said RACISM SUCKS. Other songs they played were HIMBO, SECOND CLASS CITIZEN, BITTER WORDS, BOYS DONT CRY, GREEN EGGS AND HAM, START MAKING SENSE, LET ME DOWN, UNSUNG HERO, WALK AWAY, DODGY MATE. I knew every word to every song man it was SICK. And being a 6ft Chick in an under 18s gig was good too because u get noticed :)

Best bit was after their act. Signage man SICK. Stevo remembered me form sydney airport, My friend got his mobile number coz he wants a copy of the sex pistols thing that was on foreign coresspondant. If you ever want to get noticed by a punk/ska band, wear a Sid And Nancy Tee, works everytime.

Get out and see AREA 7!!! They are much better live then on CD.
