Band History
Hi, I'm Ed Castillon (vocal/guitar), originated from Aklan, Philippines. I started singing at the age of 5 with my family in our church choir. Learned to play the guitar at the age of 13, and as I remember  the first song that I've learned to play was "Buhay Musikero" by Mike Hanopol. I played in the local talent shows on a radio station in Aklan (DYKR) back then in the late 70's, I enhanced my guitar playing by playing for my uncles and his friends who likes to serenade (harana) all the hot chicks in our neighbourhood. My strong influences are: Juan de la Cruz Band, Asin, Maria Cafra, then i started to find my own style. Started writing songs in 1990 when i was the front man of a Montreal band called "Wired". We played at Montreal local clubs, we we're a heavy metal band with strong in influences from Black Sabbath, I decided to leave the band and pursue my interest on creating pinoy songs. I got together with my friends who has the same interest and started jammin', we named the band "Pinaz Noyz", our first gig was at the Philippine Independence Day Celebration here in Montreal in 1993. We also played at a pinoy club and pinoy church basement parties. Pinaz Noyz didn't stay together because other members decided to pursue their own interest and career in life. So, Jimmy and I decided to move on and continue what we love to do which is creating music. We named ourselves "PINTIG" because, PINTIG means "rhythm of the heart" and as all of you know, all songs are created by how we feel from within and to reach out and touch other hearts as well. So, it seems to us, that's a pretty cool name for a band.
Hello, I'm Jimmy "Citiboy" Ozaeta (bass), born in Batangas, Philippines. My first musical background was playing in a "rondalla group" when I was in grade school, banduria and octavina is my main instrument at that time. I used to play at the radio station in Batangas (DZBR). When i went to high school, my uncle bought a record of Juan de la Cruz, since then my life is not the same anymore, I want to play the bass guitar. Got together with a few friends and start jammin' (our nieghbour was not so happy though, they rather pay us not to play because we're so freakin' loud). I moved to Manila and found another group "COLD STEEL" (tribute to pinoy rock) .Moved to Winnipeg, Canada and started a new band again, but the guys doesn't want to play all my composition, they rather play cover tunes (it's sad, isn't it?). Finally, I settled here in Montreal, I met Eddie and started to form a band called "Pinaz Noyz" (another tribute to pinoy rock but with our own original songs this time). Well, the band didn't last long so Eddie and I continue what we love to do, creating ang playing pinoy tunes. We called the band "PINTIG" An honoured to play with Mike Hanopol as bass player with his Canadian Tour. It was an amazing experience to play with the pioneer of pinoy rock and of course my idol. Now, Eddie and I are trying to do our best and make high quality music that will last forever.
