Denise's September 24, 1999 East Rutherford, NJ BSB Into the Millennium Concert Review

~*I went to the BSB concert at the Meadowlands on Sept.24th,1999.I went with my two best friends,Kim & Andrea.*~

Kim's mom picked us up 4:30,and we dodged traffic & had Burger King and managed to get there a little after 6. When we got on the road near the stadium,we spotted a white limo and were completely convinced you know who was in there.it was basically a game of `follow that limo!' for a few miles until they took a different road and we lost them.According to Jessica & Sarah (more about them later),that indeed was them cause they saw the white limo pull into the arena. We never actually got alongside the limo but we were close.

When we arrived in the parking lot, some people had BSB posters pasted on their cars and painted on their car windows.Z100 (a top 40 radio station in NY) was there, and one of the DJ's was throwing candy to everyone. We were towards the back at first and he never tossed any to us.A huge group of girls was gathered outside-we were there too, they were having a little pre-party. Danielle Minero (from Z100) was broadcasting us live over the air-we screamed at the top of our lungs and she played the tape back and it was so loud that it sounded like nothing but static.I'm surprised I didn't go deaf before the concert even started. She had a microphone and was playing Backstreet songs and everyone was singing & dancing & everything, and she asked the crowd who our favorites were and all kinds of stuff. My friend Kim made Danielle broadcast a message to the audience about them playing golf in Morristown (yes,if you heard that, that was my best friend,I was right behind her). That was about 6:30..we stayed around for a long time.I didn't have a watch (and for some reason Kim refused to give me the time-she kept telling me,"who knows, who cares," even though she had a watch on,which was really frustrating).

I think it was around 7:30 that we went inside the arena, maybe earlier.I had to scramble to get my souvenirs-a 30.00 tshirt and a 10.00 dogtag. Kim bought a hat she'll never wear (when we were in Wildwood together this summer she bought 4 BSB shirts but she never wears those anymore either). When we got inside the arena, we made our way to our seats-they were high up but they had a nice view, they overlooked the whole place. When we got to our seats, someone else was already sitting there and there was a little conflict. The girl started crying when the security guard looked at her ticket and told her that it was for the show the night before. The girl went off crying with her mom and we didn't see her again that night-I don't know if she was kicked out or got different seats. So we got in OUR rightful seats and waited a while. We had heard they would come flying down from the ceiling so all eyes were on the beams & rafters & balconies near the ceiling-we kept seeing movement and always swore that we saw them (even though we found out later it was never them).

Maybe a half an hour later, their opening act came on.Their opening act was this group called EYC and they SUCKED!! Ugh!! They didnt' even sing a lot of their own songs-they did a pathetic version of Eminem's `my name is'.Just another third rate imitation.I was hardly impressed. They didn't even put them on the screens so I couldn'
