Backstreet Boy Nick Carter plans to race a 43-foot speedboat with two 750-horsepower engines he bought in the American Power Boat Association's 2002 circuit in the United States and Canada.
The 22-year-old won't actually be in the boat, racing in APBA's Super Vee class. His father, Bob Carter, will be the pilot.
"One of the main reasons I am getting into this is my father," the singer said at a news conference Thursday at the Miami International Boat Show. "It's a dream come true for him." The Carters live in the Florida Keys.
