Midnight Snacks


Later that night

Cassidy tiptoed into the kitchen so as not to wake anyone, unable to sleep because of the storm outside. She went to the freezer and began to take out the raspberry swirl ice-cream.
“Midnight snack?” A voice asked from behind her.
Cassidy turned startled, “Oh, hi Nick……you want some?” Cassidy smiled.
“Yeah sure…” Cassidy grabbed two spoons and sat down at the table.

“Can’t sleep either huh?” Nick asked, taking a seat across from her.
“Nope….storms always keep me awake..” Cassidy said spooning ice-cream into her mouth.
Nick laughed. “What!?” Cassidy asked.
“You’ve got ice-cream on your nose……stay still..” He smiled, leaning across the table and delicately licking the ice-cream off her nose. Caught in the moment, Nick slowly moved his lips down to hers. Kissing her ever so lightly, innocently like a first kiss.
Nick broke away and smiled, “All gone.” Cassidy laughed softly.

“Think you’ll be able to sleep now?” He asked.
“I dunno, just maybe…” Cassidy grinned.
“Come on then, you’d better get some sleep….from experience, tomorrow is going to be a big day!” Nick grinned.
“Yeah..” Cassidy smiled.
“Sweet dreams…” Nick whispered as he exited the kitchen.

The next morning…

“Shh…..Becca and Nick are still asleep….” Brian whispered as everyone began to wake up.
“Oh good. I want to get this car here before Becca wakes up….” Cassidy smiled.
“Cool, we’ll come for a drive!” Kevin said emerging from the bathroom.
“Well we’re not all gonna fit in Brian’s Jeep,” Cassidy said, tying her hair up in a ponytail.
“My Car!” Brian exclaimed excitedly.
Kirstie and Emma laughed.
“Yes it’s still in one piece!” Cassidy grinned.
“You didn’t drive it did you?” Brian raised his eyebrows.
“Of course not….” Cassidy grinned.
“Whatever..” Brian smirked. “I’d better stay here and cook me girl breakfast…”
“Who? Nick?” Kevin laughed.
“Funny…..Kirstie wanna help me, please?” Brian pulled his puppy dog eyes.
“Yeah, yeah…..” She laughed.

“I’m gonna hit the shower....” AJ said and made his way to the bathroom.
“I’ll come with you Cass…” Emma smiled.
“Well let’s go then…” Cassidy said grabbing Brian’s keys.
“Wait one second….Kevin you’re driving,” Brian said taking the keys from Cassidy and throwing them to Kevin.
“Your no fun Bri!” Cassidy pouted.
“Yeah I love you too!” Brian grinned.
“Ummm do you think we should put Becca into her bed, instead of leaving her out here in the lounge room?” Kevin asked, looking at Rebecca sleeping peacefully amongst the pillows and sleeping bags strewn across the floor.
“Nick’s still sleeping there….” Cassidy pointed out.
“She’ll get a surprise when she wakes up!” Howie laughed.
“I don’t like the sound of that!” Brian said defensively.
“I won’t be a minute…” Kevin said going over to Rebecca and delicately lifting her into his arms.
“Don’t wake her…” Cassidy warned.
He took Rebecca into her room and carefully placed her onto the bed.
“Ok, let’s roll!” Kevin announced.

“So Brian what are we making for breakfast?” Kirstie said jumping up on the bench.
“Ummm Becca loves strawberries….” Brian grinned.
“Very good, two points for the boyfriend!” Kirstie laughed. (BN: So true…I could live on strawberries forever and ever and ever! I love ‘em!)
Brian laughed, “ So do I meet up to the ‘Boyfriend’ standards?”
Kirstie smiled, “Just making sure you’ll take good care of her is all…and so far you’re doing ok Littrell!”
“I would never hurt her..” Brian said seriously.
“I believe you,” Kirstie smiled. “Now on to Breakfast making…”

Nick woke up and wondered into the kitchen. “Mmmm what smells so good?”
Kirstie and I are making pancakes….ok Kirstie’s making pancakes! You didn’t wake Becca did you?” Brian asked.
“Nope……wow these look good….” Nick said reaching for a pancake.
“No you don’t!” Kirstie swatted Nick’s hand away with the egg flipper.
“Ow!” Nick laughed.
“Wait till everyone gets back….”
“Yes Mum!” Nick sat down sleepily at the table.
“I’m gonna go check on Bec…” Brian said.
Soon a funky blue hatchback sat gleaming in the driveway. (BN: Me and Cass are car illiterate so I hope this description’s ok!)

Rebecca opened her eyes slightly and someone kissed her on the forehead. “Happy Birthday Princess. She smiled sleepily, “Mmm morning Brian..”
Everyone soon bounded into the room. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!”
Rebecca laughed, “Good Morning to you all too!”
“Come on, get up!” Cassidy said pulling her out of bed.
“Cassidy….” Becca whined.
“Hurry up, get your bootie out of bed, we’ve got a surprise!”
“I don’t have to be blindfolded or anything do I?”
“You know I didn’t think of that! Brian, cover her eyes!” Cassidy said.
“Cassidy!! It’s too early!”
“Trust me on this one!”
“Ok….” Brian covered Becca’s eyes and they all led her outside.
“Ready? One, two, three….”

“Oh my God!” Becca squealed.
“Is this….”
Cassidy shook her head. “You didn’t….” Becca said, eyes wide open.
“Yeah WE did!”
“You guys are the best! WE HAVE A CAR!!” Becca yelled and ran up to Cassidy and they Hugged and jumped around.
Becca then ran up to Brian, Kissing him passionately. Everyone laughed. “Save that for when I give you your other present.” Brian whispered.
“What?!”
“Later….” He smiled.
She gave everyone else hugs and kisses. “You guys! This is the best Birthday ever!”
“The day hasn’t even begun….” Kirstie and Emma laughed.
“Come on….Kirstie made pancakes!” Nick said and ushered everyone inside.
