Canadian actor Barry Pepper (Madison) is currently filming a lead role in the Twentieth Century Fox big budget feature,
Firestorm. The action packed adventure stars Howie Long (Broken Arrow), Suzy Amis (The Usual Suspects), Scott Glenn
(Courage Under Fire), and William Forsythe (The Rock).
"Firestorm" depicts what happens when two forest fires collide; the resulting ferocious storm becomes an unpredictable inferno
that demonstrates the true power of nature. Smokejumper Jesse Graves (Howie Long) leaps into the "eye" of the storm, and
into one of the most dangerous adventures of his life. Graves and his mentor Wynt Perkins (Glenn) soon discover that their
battle against the firestorm is not their only fight - As well, Graves must contend with a dangerous foe of human nature in the
form of Randy Earl Shaye (William Forsythe). Shaye, a convicted mass murderer, and three of his accomplices have
masterminded an elaborate escape plan using the firestorm as a decoy.
Packer (Barry Pepper), one of the four escaped
convicts, aids in the murderous getaway and in the hostage-taking of an unsuspecting naturalist (Amis) , when the group runs
into an unpremeditated problem: Jesse Graves.
Firestorm is academy-award-winning cinematographer Dean Semler's (Dances With Wolves) directorial debut from a
screenplay written by Chris Soth and Graham Yost. The feature film will be shooting in the lush forest setting on the outskirts of
Vancouver, British Columbia through November 8 and will be released in theatres sometime in 1997.
Firestorm will be Barry Pepper's second feature film; his first feature, Urban Safari, premiered at the 1995 Cannes Film
Festival. At twenty-six years old, Pepper is one of Canada's fastest rising stars: He started acting only four short years ago and
has already had lead and guest-starring roles in numerous TV movies and TV series such as M.A.N.T.I.S., Highlander,
Lonesome Dove (twice), Outer Limits, Toe Tags (pilot, series lead), Spiders Web, VIPER, and Sentinel. While juggling his
busy schedule, Barry Pepper has also performed the recurring role of Mick Farley on the award-winning TV series Madison
for all four of its seasons.
