911 Face The Fans

-Have you ever got the giggles on stage ? -- Colleen, Shropshire

S: Yeah, we get the giggles loads, especially when Lee falls over or something.

L: I remember when we were in the Far East doing a TV show once and Spike's

    trousers fell down !

S: My belt came undone and my trousers just fell down.

L: Luckily it wasn't live, but I had to try and mime while I was laughing my head

    off through two whole choruses.

-What do you think when people say you can't sing ? -- Kate, Glasgow

L: It doesn't bother us at all, we don't care.

J: I think everyone's seen us do acoustics on TV, so if that doesn't convince them

then I don't think anything will.

L: Obviously we're not Backstreet Boys.Lee I mean, they're amazing singers. We've

never said that we're the best singing band in the

world anyway. We just do our own thing - if you don't

    like it, don't buy it.

-When you're on tour do you stay in really posh

  hotels ? -- Denise, Clapham

J: Yeah, we do get to stay in nice hotels as it's all part

    of the budget.

S: But they're not really posh hotels. When we're on tour we stay in the same

    hotel as the band.

J: As long as it has a gym and a pool, I don't mind. The Malmaison chain of hotels

is really nice, but they can be a bit too posh sometimes.

L: I don't really take that much notice of the hotels. As long as it's got a bed and

a toilet then it's fine by me.

-What do you wear in bed ? -- Sophie & Megan, Solihull

S: Nothing. Honestly, I don't.

L: Boxer shorts.

J: It depends how hot it is and who I'm with...

-What really went on between Lee and Baby Spice ? -- Claire, Bedfordshire

L: Oh please !

S: Come on Lee, it's a question from the readers.

J: Yeah go on tell us.

L: OK, but I've said this about 50 times now. I went over to Ireland for the week

last New Year and had a laugh. That's all. Did I snog her ? I snogged 'em all !

Jimmy-When was the last time you snogged someone and

who was it ? -- Miranda, Kent

(There's lots of boyish giggles and whispering.)

J: Mine was last night. Who was it ? I'm not telling.

L: Go on, just tell us.

J: No, it was at the hotel in London last night and that's

    all I'm saying.

L: My last snog was with a Swiss girl a couple of weeks ago. She was blonde and

had blue eyes - I think she was a model.

S: My last one was the other week with a girl from Warrington. And no, she's not

    my girlfriend.

-When was the last time you were ill ? -- Susie, Dublin

J: When I went home about three weeks ago I got flu. You always get ill when

    you have time off.

L: I was ill in July and it was down to too much work. I was ill mentally, cuz we

were working so hard. That's one of the reasons we sacked our old

    management.

J: It's true.

S: I was really ill about the same time as Lee but I was throwing up and I was

so dizzy I couldn't even get my balance. I was actually being sick when we

performed on the Pepsi Chart Show and I had to have a bucket on the side

    of the stage.

Spike-What makes you laugh ? -- Kerri, Gwent

J: Lots of things, especially comedians.

L: Yeah I'm an amateur comedian.

J: (Whispers) Just humour him.

L: No, I'm funny, aren't I ?

S: Hmm...

L: We do make each other laugh, it's usually with funny

one-liners. I can't give you an example though, as it's usually too rude !

-Where do you like to be kissed ? -- Emma, Devon

L: I like a nice sexy kiss on the lips, you know like a smoochy one.

S: I like to be kissed on my neck while I'm playing on my PlayStation.

L: Ohhh, being kissed on my neck and ears is nice too. That's a real turn on.

J: I like to be kissed on, erm, I dunno, my mouth, my head. Ha ha ! No, I like

    to be kissed everywhere.

L: No, on his bum ! See there you go there's a one-liner for you !

(All collapse in fits of giggles.)

-Have you heard about the Let Spike Sing petition ? -- Sarah, Doncaster

S: Yeah. To be honest, I don't think I'm good enough to sing lead vocals on a

song. But I might do in the future, you never know.

Lee-What are you thinking right now ? -- Lisa, Derby

L: Ooh, I'm in another world at the moment. I'm sort

of floating around somewhere out there, so I'm not

really thinking of anything in particular.

S: Now I'm thinking, ' What am I thinking about ! '

L: I'm playing with my emotions. What do I mean ?

    I dunno, I just am.

S: I'm thinking he's a prat (signals to Lee).

L: See what I mean about making them laugh ? You all knock me but I'm making

    you laugh.

-Do you mind being short ? -- Kerry, Leicester

S: Not at all - it hasn't done us any harm has it ?

J: We may be short but we make up for it - I'm not telling you how though.

L: I'd like to be about four inches taller. But I don't really care about it that

    much anymore.

J: You get a lot of sympathy being short.

-Jimmy, how did you feel about the recent stories published in the tabloids

about your son ? -- Kim, Brighton

JimmyJ: I do feel quite pleased that it's all come out. I just

didn't want him to be in the public eye. He's only six

years old. A lot of people have forgotten about it now

anyway, it's out there and that's it. I do get to see him

quite a lot and spend time with him anyway.

-Do you like the Gym and Tonic song that beat More

Than A Woman to number one ? -- Kate, Manchester

J: I can't stand it !

L: A lot of people thought it was Star Dust's second single. People got mixed up

between Space Dust and Star Dust and I think they just tried to rip that off.

But in the end they beat us fair and square.

L: We were number one on CD:UK though. Maybe next time we'll get a number

one, hopefully with our new single, A Little Bit More.

-Lee, you've started wearing glasses in some pictures. Do you really need

them ? -- Alison, W. Yorks

L: No, I don't really need them, I just fancied a change. Maybe I'm just a victim

    of image.

-If you could be any other person in the world, who would you be ? -- Dawn,

Newcastle-Upon-Tyne

J: I'd be Michael Jackson so I could see what it's like to have plastic surgery. I

think I've gone past the point of having plastic surgery though - nothing can

    save me now.

SpikeS: I'd be Eric Cantona so I could see what it's like to

    play for Man United.

L: I'd be me.

-Fans always ask you questions, what would you like

to ask the fans ? -- Rebecca, Sussex

J: How do you feel when you've just come out of one of

    our concerts ?

S: What makes you follow us and stand outside in the cold ?

L: When you come to see us in the winter, why don't you wear warmer clothes ?

-Lee, do you regret your recent change of hairstyle ? -- Julie, Liverpool

L: I go through stages. But at this moment in time I do because I can't do

anything with it - it's at that between stage and I can't be bothered with it.

Do you think I should grow it again ? Yeah ? But when I did last time, BIG!

said I looked like David Beckham. I knew you would do that !
