FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
OUR LADY PEACE ANNOUNCE INITIAL TOUR DATES IN SUPPORT OF
SPIRITUAL MACHINES
New Album In U.S. Stores March 13
Spiritual Machines, the eagerly-awaited collection of new songs by Our Lady Peace, will be in
U.S. stores March 13. The album, OLP's fourth, was certified platinum in the band's native Canada
a mere four weeks after its release. (Spiritual Machines achieved platinum status more rapidly
than any record in the OLP catalog.) As in the past, the band will immediately go on the road. The
tour, in support of Spiritual Machines, began February 25 in San Antonio, Texas (see itinerary
following).
The press corps has been extremely enthusiastic about Spiritual Machines. In the March 2001
issue of Maxim, David Peisner observed that ".…OLP have enough ambition to rise above the
modern-rock muck…." while Esther Haynes, reviewing the record for Jane (March 2001) wrote
"….this simple rock album is awesome--I've listened to it 15 times, and I still dig it." "Life," the first
single from Spiritual Machines, is currently climbing up the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart.
A rave review of the record appeared in the January 27th issue of Billboard: "(OLP)… leads off its
fourth set, Spiritual Machines, with this gem of a tune. Maida's nasal-ish voice offers a nice
alternative to much of the sound of today's rock music, and Our Lady Peace's music continues its
tradition of combining a catchy tune with alternative sensibilities." Our Lady Peace has just finished
lensing a video for "Life." All day long, in an Internet first, fans were able to log onto the band's
official website (www.ourladypeace.com) to watch the video shoot, see behind-the-scenes footage
and chat with OLP.
The band's first album, Naveed (released on Relativity in the U.S. in 1995), generated the Top 10
Modern Rock and Active Rock hit, "Starseed." and went on to sell more than half a million copies
worldwide. The band's second album, Clumsy, was released in 1997 and entered the Canadian sales
charts at #1. The album has since gone on to achieve Diamond status in Canada with sales of more
than 1,000,000 copies. The record has sold some 2.5 million units worldwide. Clumsy--which is
approaching the RIAA platinum mark in the United States, contained "Superman's Dead" and
"Clumsy" which were Top 5 Modern Rock Tracks in the U.S. After Happiness…Is Not A Fish
That You Can Catch was released in 1999 to widespread critical and popular acclaim, Our Lady
Peace embarked on a series of successful "Scaled" dates featuring the band performing "acoustic"
gigs for their fans in intimate venues in ten U.S. markets.
Our Lady Peace has developed a reputation as an outstanding live act. Steve Appleford, writing for
the Los Angeles Times (November 12, 1999), reviewed an Our Lady Peace/Creed concert at the
Palladium and noted, " …. Our Lady Peace made pop music that was equally loud, but with more
memorable results. Inventive if uncomplicated arrangements made the quartet seem like rock gods
by comparison." Patrick Foster echoed those sentiments in the Washington Post (September 30,
1999): "….OLP's eclecticism made its set superior. And on the crowded floor of the general
admission event, Creed's audience howled its approval."
Our Lady Peace can be seen on "The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn" on March 30th.
